View Full Version : Miscellaneous Hacks - View Your Threads Or Posts From The Navbar

Please click Mark as Installed if you are using this hack.

What Does This Hack Do?Silver
This is an update to my 3.8.x version of this hack, designed to work with vBulletin v4.0.x.

This is a simple hack that adds an extra menu on the navbar which allows your members to search for their own posts or threads they started. When browsing a forum there are additional links to view your threads or posts from that forum only, if you not in a forum, the extra links do not appear (see screenshots).

There are no file or template changes at all, is controlled by usergroup permissions and is fully phrased.

This was a request by odeezie in post #22 of this thread.

vBulletin Version CompatibilitySilver
This hack can be used with vBulletin versions 4.0.0 - 4.2.0.

For the v3.8.x version of this hack, which will also work with v3.7.x and v3.6.x - check here.

Hi all,

It is with regret that after over 4 years (and thousands of hours) spent providing free support for my free hacks released here, as of today I will no longer be able to provide support for free.

This is due to being unemployed for a while, being strapped for cash and unable to rely on the virtually non-existant donations from here to help to pay the bills or put food on the table for my family. I am now providing all support for my free hacks released here over at Wolfshead Solutions (http://www.wolfshead-solutions.com) via an annual support subscription (for a small fee).

It does not mean I will be no longer release free hacks, I will, I just no longer be supporting them for free.

My free hacks have and always will remain free to download and use. And so will updates/bug fixes.

I will be releasing more free hacks, but if you require any support at all for those free hacks, you will need to purchase an annual support subscription over at Wolfshead Solutions to receive support.

I am really sorry I have to do this, but revenue generated by my programming gigs are now my only source of income, and I can no longer afford the luxury of providing free support here, when that time can be spent creating new commerial products, doing paid work requests or providing paid support to pay the bills.

Thank you for the understanding.

Regards,

Mosh.

This doesn't seem to work on vb 4.0.2. I installed as the directions said and everything imports ok, but there are no permissions showing up in the system options. So either I can't turn it on, or it just doesn't like 4.0.2

Edit: I'm a dope, it's in the usergroup settings, just like it says in the read me.

There is nothing wrong with this hack at all. It has been tested and works absolutely fine in vBulletin 4.0.5, and I tested it using the default style as well as five other custom styles.

It appears the problem must be at your end.

I installed it, configured 'usergroup' options but no link appears in the navbar. Tried, retried then tried again:)

Is it possible that it conflicts with other mods for 'navbar buttons'? e.g 'Evisystems Tab menu'? Any advice?

try deactivating that mod and see if it is working. if yes there must be a conflict. if not, you might have installed it badly

Great Mod. Is it possible to search by specific forum only. Just like vb.org, I have articles and Mods. When I go to articles Tab, I would like to find my posts/threads in Articles and when I goto Mods tab, I would like to find my Mods.

How to do this?? I would like to put this as a link in second level of navbar.

I have no idea, as it is custom to vBulletin.org (which uses vBulletin 3.6.12). You could always ask Princeton who maintains the styles here.

Does this mod need a vBulletin cron hourly job to run in order to have recently posted new threads show up in its navbar "My Threads" listing?

I ask because I created and added a new thread and it doesn't appear as the most recent thread with this mod. If I run vBulletin's standard "Find all started threads" from with my user profile, that same most recent thread shows up?

Am I missing something?

When I click for example (Find all my posts) I got my latest posts only (last 6 months)
How can I find all my posts?

I know this is in the core of the vbulletin product (search function), but maybe you know how to fix it

This hack does not limit the time it searches back for..... it is probably a limitation due to the number of search results returned.

Increase the number for Maximum Search Results to Return, which will be found under vBulletin Options -> Message Searching Options in the AdminCP.

If the above does not help, then post on the bug tracker at vBulletin.com.

Thanks for update Mosh.

Please could you answer how to disable automatic creation of link in Navigation menu? On small monitors (low resolution), menu name crosses on another menu name. How to put menu links of this Mod into Quick menu or community menu?

In previous version I change hook to navbar_quick_links_menu_pos4 and comment line
$template_hook['navbar_quick_links_menu_pos4'] .= '<!-- View Your Threads or Posts from the Navbar v4.0.001, Copyright Mosh Shigdar 2008 --><li class="popupmenu"><a href="javascript://" class="popupctrl">'.$vbphrase['ms_vopt_search'].'</a><ul class="popupbody popuphover">'; on the beggining and end code for navigation menu, but now, with this new navigation menu in vBulletin, I could not understand how to change that.

If you are on vBulletin 4.2.0, then you need to edit the links in the Navigation Manager ..... from there you can move them (see this article from vBulletin.com for more info - https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/content.php/746-How-to-Move-a-Navigation-Item).

It has nothing to do with this hack, and there is nothing I can do about it.... I did post a reply in March 2012 about this exact same issue in Post #58 (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=2307059&postcount=52).

1. Upload "bitfield_ms_vopt.xml" to your forum's "/includes/xml" directory.
If upgrading then overwrite the previous file.
Uploaded File to ncludes/xml" directory.

2. Import the appropriate file into vB using the AdminCP Product Manager:

a. If vBulletin version 4.2.0 and above import "ms_vopt_40-vB4.2.0.xml" (this will not install on any version below vBulletin 4.2.0)
Imported File

3. In "Usergroups > Usergroup Manager", alter the settings for each Usergroup to your liking.

Done for all Groups that would have threads or posts.

Problem - Nothing new on the Navbar

Where did I go wrong?

Only View Your Threads or Posts (Menu) have add a link. But as a Menu I sure it shouldn't have one.

The four sub categories have links similar to New Posts, but with added info.

It was Enable. I Disable and redid Enable. Still doesn't show up.

================================
Never mind. It was my own setting as Owner with no Secondary Setting. Once I added Administrator to myself. it showed up.

It appears you have a small bug w/ the new 4.2.0 version, when navigating to your inbox/pm system of vb, the userid being pulled is incorrect, it will randomly pull the wrong userid when viewing the inbox or when viewing a pm from a user.

This appears to only happen when in the pm system pages, that the wrong userid gets appended to the urls.

I think the solution is to use {session.userid} instead of {userinfo.userid}

I found that here: https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php/414413-Navigation-Manager-My-Threads-My-Posts-code-problems?p=2371403&viewfull=1#post2371403

Installed the MOD and then your patch. Thank you. Works nicely in 4.2.1.

One quirk however, that I would like to find and fix. Regardless if you choose to view all your threads or posts, the breadcrumb says 'Posts'.

From within a forum board having selected "View all your threads (this forum only)":
Search:
Type: Posts; User: Snowhog; Forum = Admin Chat

From outside a forum board having selected "View all your threads":
Search:
Type: Posts; User: Snowhog

Do you know where this is controlled so it can be fixed to report Threads or Posts depending on the option you chose?
