i guess google does it itself but using forum tabs on top of the pages would be a great help

You might want to check your site setup in google webmaster tools. Then go to site configuration, then site links. You can't force google to show that kind of listing but they might if they think it is of benefit to viewers if I remember reading correctly. My guess is they show it only for the more popular sites for certain kinds of searches.
