This template change doesn't work for me with 4.0.4PL1 ? any suggestions please.
it works fine, it just doesn't remove the My Posts drop-down. So it shows up in 2 locations.
To remove the My Posts drop-down, disable the My Threads - My Posts (global_setup_complete) plugin

I had to deinstall this.. it seems that no matter the search settings, VB insists on this only working once per session. After that the search index number will not increment and therefor no updated threads or posts will show until log out.
Meanwhile, new posts, and Today's topics work a-ok. Would love to get this working but until I can figure out how to force VB to update the search index # its more confusing.
Any ideas?

I can't seem to import anything from the admin control panel. When I click on the Import button, it gives me an error. Is there another way to install this? FTP?You really can't run vb while ignoring an error like that. Fix it. Search for the error over at vb.com (I assume you have no other mods installed either).

It sounds like you're using the wrong "import" button. It's been ages since I used Impex, but I think someone installed it and now you have it's Import button in your AdminCP. Read the manual (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html) for instructions how to remove that cuz I don't remember anything.
Anyway, to import a product you want the add/import link at AdminCP>Plugins and Products>Manage Products>Add/Import Products.

Got it, fixed it, installed it. Thank you to the creator.
The installation worked fine. Moved it over to my "quick links tab" easily enough. As other posted commented:
1) it automatically takes you the the "what's new?" tab as opposed to the forum tab. (not cool)
2) it does not automatically update. If I were to post a new thread or reply to a post, it does not show up in the search results for some reason. This message is in the top right corner:
Search took 0.03 seconds; generated 44 minute(s) ago.
(very NOT cool).
Any way to fix these 2 issues?
Update: The second part was fixed by :

I recently upgraded the forum (to its latest version) and found an error that had not occurred before. This is the message:
Fatal error: Call to a member function allow_icons() on a non-object in /home/invertpl/public_html/forum/vb/legacy/thread.php on line 184
This is what that section looks like:
// Derived getters
/**
* Get the url for the thread page
*
* @return string
*/
public function get_url()
{
return fetch_seo_url('thread', $this->record);
}
/**

if (!$this->get_forum()->allow_icons())
{
return false;
}
return ($this->get_field('iconid') OR $this->get_field('pollid') OR $vbulletin->options['showdeficon']);
}
The underlined portion is line 184 ... any ideas what is going on here?
Thanks in advance.

I really like this product a lot but it causes a problem on my forum that has caused me to uninstall it. If the problem can be fixed, it's back on.
I also use the VB Advanced Links Directory (http://www.vbadvanced.com/products.php?do=productinfo&productid=2) and when installed, this product causes the administrator controls for that software to bunch up on top of each other. The minute I disable this product, it all goes back the way it should be.
I have checked it with more than one browser and turned the product on and off several times to watch the behavior. There is some conflict that causes it to happen.

Note: This does not work for vB 4.2.0 and above.
See my post here for instructions: 4.2 Post/Thread Links (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=2331998&postcount=121)
To those who want it under quick links here is the XML.
Make sure to mark it as installed above and thank the developer. :up:

To change the location of the links
Find: navbar_quick_links_menu_pos2
and change the number between 1 and 4.
For example:
To move the links to the top you would replace it with:navbar_quick_links_menu_pos1

If you are having problems with 4.2 here is a way to roll it out:
My Threads:
search.php?do=finduser&userid={userinfo.userid}&contenttype=vBForum_Post&starter only=1
My Posts:
search.php?do=finduser&userid={userinfo.userid}&co ntenttype=vBForum_Post &showposts=1
Unless you have guest posting, member should be the permission name.

Geoff_M
05-23-2012, 04:48 PM
You don't need this for 4.2
vB built in a navigation manager found in ACP.
ACP->Setting->Navigation Manager.
From there click on forum so it expands.
Then select add link from the drop down next to quick links and add the following:
Title: My Posts
Target URL: search.php?do=finduser&userid={userinfo.userid}&co ntenttype=vBForum_Post &showposts=1
Then select active and save.
Do the same for:
Title: My Threads
Target URL: search.php?do=finduser&userid={userinfo.userid}&starteronly=1&contenttype=vBForu m_Thread
To hide these links from guests add "member" in the box 'Show Permission Name'.

4.2?If that's supposed to be a question nobody's going to answer it because it would clearly indicate you haven't bothered to read back a bit where multiple people are discussing 4.2.

Yup, nobody except Videx is going to answer it and point you at the right direction (kinda) ;)
Thanks for sharing, one little tiny mistake though, plsease look in to the link of My Threads.
You don't need this for 4.2
vB built in a navigation manager found in ACP.
ACP->Setting->Navigation Manager.
From there click on forum so it expands.
Then select add link from the drop down next to quick links and add the following:
Title: My Posts
Target URL: search.php?do=finduser&userid={userinfo.userid}&co ntenttype=vBForum_Post &showposts=1
Then select active and save.
Do the same for:
Title: My Threads
Target URL: search.php?do=finduser&userid={userinfo.userid}&co ntenttype=vBForum_Post &showposts=1
Permissions may have to be added so these links don't show for guests. I will look into that when I have time. :)
To change the order just adjust the display order numbers.

Cool, but the "My Tread" button links you to threads you've posted in, it seems redundant right next to the "My Posts" button, I think it would be better if it showed only the threads started by that poster.

I see, it's a typo, he typed the same link for both buttons, this is the "My Threads" link, search.php?do=finduser&userid={userinfo.userid}&contenttype=vBForum_Post&starter only=1
Thanks for the update on 4.2 Geoff_M :)

LOL I did this weeks ago and one of my posters just pointed out tfact that it says "My Treads" in the nav-bar, the "H" is missing from the word "Threads" any idea how I can fix this ?

Nevermind, I figured it out, it's a good thing that I'm a good dancer, because I'm not too smart.You should really think about future searchers when you solve an issue like this, and describe the problem and the solution. Although it may seem simple to you in hindsight, that won't be the case with the next person looking for a solution.

Nice - thanks :)
By following above i was able to add my posts & my threads in quick links drop down menu. However when i click on "My threads" it showed threads in order "by last post date" instead of date when threads were created.
Is there anyway i can set it up so it will show threads in order the date they were created not by the date when a user replied to them ??
Thanks for help in advance.

That file is not a part of this mod, and is stock in vBulletin.
To test if it is the mod do the following;
Open your config.php and below<?php add this line:
define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);
So it looks like this:
<?php
define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);
/*================================================= =====================*\
|| ################################################## ################## ||

Then see if you can access the ACP

Just one question, I'd like to rename it to My Content and save only the first two drop downs (View My Posts and View My Threads). Could that be done with a quick fix template edit? If so, which template?
