How do you stop bots from registering? I have 3 or 4 modifications installed, but this week has been horrible, I got like 5 or 6 bots that signed up, and not sure how they are getting around it all. I have a catch, I have the registration bot stopper in, and some other things I can't think of...
What else can I do to stop this???

Are you running recaptcha? Thats very, very effective.

Pretty much no matter what you put in, if there is a human behind the system doing the registration they're going to be able to register. I've seen some boards try to thwart even the human attempts by asking technical questions that someone legitimately trying to use the board would know. Anyone can answer questions like the sum of 4 + 5. But like for a board for a certain make of car, a true enthusiast might know the first year the vehicle was manufactured or something like that. Yes someone can google to find the answer to that too of course.
I haven't researched but my guess is there is a black market of sorts on the webs for forum accounts with valid username and password, so the smart bots if they encounter repcatcha it can't crack or antying like that will just prompt for a human to enter the info then go on its merry way.

I'm running re-Captcha and not had any problem with bots, but human spammers are beginning to be a pain as they get by the security question quite easily.
I've banned one email domain that most seem to be coming from, but is there anywhere I can find a list of confirmed spammer domains to add to the list in my ACP?

Thanks for that, much appreciated.
I wonder if vBulletin will be putting something to stop human spammers into V4? It would be very useful for people who don't like messing with the files themselves.

reCAPTCHA Is indeed effective in stopping them.
If it barely helps turn on " Moderate New Members "

U can go here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=176481&highlight=stop+forum+spam (vbStopForumSpam - known spammer lookup for new registrations). Installed & works great.

You have to do some things also, i was going to install it but Enhanced Image Verification and reCAPTCHA work fine.

I don't know if this is practical, but on a vb board I was a mod on, they said they changed register.php name to something else and that stopped the bots for a long time. Of course anywhere there's a register link has to be changed then too.....

reCAPTHCA and Enhanced Image verification is effective. But don't stop the human spammers :p
