Is there any similar mod I can use for this purpose. Say if there is any emergency, the instructor can notify the students.

1. Instructor logs in and chooses an option menu that has his/her class to communicate to.
2. Instructor writes a short message like "Class canceled tonight" and clicks "send".
3. The message appears on the front page of the website/forum in a left hand side box.
4. Additionally, the message is sent as email to students of that class.

Uhmm theres a mod that makes a notice to the user when he has a new PM, just here @ vB.org.

Selective group of members as in usergroups? Combien it with a Mass PM Mod.

No, select group as in each class have students from different usergroups. They will go to the email address of people in that class.

I don't believe you will find anything like that here. As far as I know, there is no such product on vborg.
