Well, inspired by something I read on .com, I was wondering whether any of the hacks or mods I've ever used will be updated for vBulletin 4, and who here is going to be making modifications for said version.

I've already stated that I will be converting all my Tabbed Mods to vB4 ... not that many people use them, but at least the ones that do can look forward to using them with vB4 when the time comes lol..

I pre-ordered vB 4 Suite and I plan on updating SOME (not all, probably) of my hacks to work with vB 4

Well, I already have vb4, so that part isnt an issue really. :)

Ive ported a couple of mods already, and working on a third. Getting things to display is a real issue for me as I know very little CSS, and thats requirement in vb4.

I plan to convert a couple of mine (some I don't plan to because I no longer use them or because they aren't needed). I don't have many mods, or installs, so I don't know that that helps anyone. :)

when is the Release data for 4.0?

When it's ready. It's been asked HUNDREDS of times already on vBulletin.com. The goal is Q4 2009

If you need any help with CSS Paul, feel free to ask me any time, I'd be more than happy to help

We'll be converting v3 Arcade to vB4 ASAP and I'll likely convert one or two of the minor publicly released CinVin branded hacks over but the rest (that I can think of at least at the moment) will fall by the wayside. Some of the private ones I've done are on hold until likely next year as site owners plan for their vB4 migration.

With some of our forums they may stay version 3 indefinitely given the integrations with third party software and the mods that are embedded within the basic essence of the site. Right now I think version 3.x of the forums does what forums do well - create communications for people. The cost to migrate some of these sites to 4.x is just too high and 4.x doesn't provide major benefits over 3.x for what we provide. We'll too wait to see just how many developer remain here and will keep giving away their mods for free. It's difficult to say now who will and who won't support modifications for 4.x and, if so, at what price.

I use your TAB mods and love them! I wouldn't have paid for the 4.0 upgrade if you wasn't supporting it.

I'm glad to hear many coders are already starting to or intending to update mods. That's great news.

I'll second that. Your tabs hack is very helpful on one of the sites I work on, bobster65! We really do appreciate the work you put into this, and we'll be moving to vB 4 on that project. So we're happy to hear of your continued support of it!

of my two most installed mods, one should be avaliable within a few days of vb4 release; the other will be longer as its getting a total rewrite.

Good for you guys. We were considering releasing some mods we had just developed. Now it's likely we will charge if we do make them available in order to pay for the licensing fees we didn't expect to incur, so high and so suddenly. :)
