VB 4.0 - CMS Question About Subdomains

I tried asking at vbulletin.com but received no answer from a staffer so thought I'd see what you guys thought.

I run my forums on a subdomain forums.example.com

And run my regular webpage on the main domain www.example.com

Would I be able to run the CMS on the main domain and have everything related to the stuff on the forums?

If not, would it be easy to create a mod/bridge to make this happen?

I received this response today from the IB staff. Anybody think this would be doable?

This would require use of mod_rewrite or other such webserver tools. It will not be possible out of the box.
