I created this with the intention of its members having an avenue to discover whats happening around town, discuss local topics and have a few avenues to share photography and/or videos.

There's a hidden forum as well for college students that can discuss everything college if they register with their student email address.

Let me know your thoughts/ideas. I'm also interested to hear of different ways to market the website to build more of a member base. I currently sponsor our monthly MMA fights and have a few radio ads coming up. I tried advertising in a local event newspaper but didn't see any interest stem from it.

Enough rambling... here ya go - www.accessanchorage.com (http://www.accessanchorage.com)

Thanks in advance everyone.

Your forum skin doesn't suit your site subject at all. Going by some of the photos you've posted on there, you're surrounded by some pretty spectacular scenery, and you're pretty much spoilt for choice for nice background graphics, yet your site is gloomy and dark. You should go for a lighter colour scheme for starters.

You should also consider actually having a main site. Too many people run the install script, grab a style made by someone else and claim it as a 'site'. Forums aren't sites IMO, they're a feature of a site. You need to offer something more to make people visit, and keep them coming back. If you're serious about your site, then you have to show people you are.

Your 'Attention Guest: Please Register' link doesn't work btw, you're missing the .com from the domain in the link

I agree with Beav here, I think the overall look of the forum is too dark. When I think of Alaska I picture snow, icebergs, and water which all have a lighter color from white to blue. Perhaps you could create a default style which is lighter in color (perhaps using blues so it’s not all white) and then have your current style as a secondary option for your members if they want something darker??

Good job with the forums though, looks like you got a nice member base going. :)
