Is there any way to prevent moderators from viewing private (invite only) social groups? I tried changing the setting for the usergroup "Moderator" but that didn't seem to do it?
Thanks :)

Tried changing what setting on what page?
- Can Always Post Messages If enabled, the user will also be able to view private and invite only groups.
- Can Always Create Discussions If enabled, the user will also be able to view private and invite only groups.
Look at those in Usergroup and in Show All Moderators > Permissions.

Yes. I tried that. It didn't seem to have any effect on it.

Are you talking about Invite Only groups? I am able to keep Moderators out, but not Super Moderators. I'm not sure how you would go about that.

We don't use Super Moderator funtion.
I went to Usergroups -> Usergroup Manager
Then clicked on the usergroup "Moderators" and went down to "Social Groups Permissions"
Can Always Post Messages = NO
Can Always Create Discussions = NO
And posts in Invite only groups are still visible.

When you edit the group itself, have you ticked the "Users must join to view the content" option ?

Yes.
Group Type:
Invite Only
Group Options (x = checked box 0=unchecked)
X Enable Messages
0 Messages must be approved by the owner
X Users must join to view the content

What version vb are you using? I'm testing this on my 3.8 board and my moderator test user cannot see the Invite Only groups that he is not a member of. The test user gets a No Permission screen when trying to view that group.
Try disabling your modifications/plugins and see if you still have this problem.
Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php
define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

Using 3.8.2
If I disable the plugins, it will turn off my vbseo - no? That's probably bad. Our forum is pretty active. Maybe I'll try it early in the morning tomorrow.
Thanks. :)

Yes it will turn it off, and it will maybe go back to the default urls..
Here's the solution:
Forums and Moderators>Show all Moderators
Click on "Edit" beside each moderator - uncheck all the Social Group permissions
