I have been doing some reading and the success rate for this is not very high , all my attachments blog, thread, avatar and ect.. are all in the file system and im running ver. 3.8.1 and im sure they are like 3.6 i dont want to spend the next month of my life merging there small one into my big one and running around and putting fires out. if it cant be done with in a reasonable amount of time and have a good success rate then im just going to tell them sorry. i dont want to destroy the integrity of my forum.

looks as if all users would be imported as
imported_username
If this is true then they cant just log in to my site using there old credentials , sort of defeats the entire purpose doesn't it?

You might do better to ask your questions over in the Impex forum. I'm not real familiar with it, so I can't answer your questions about it.

Impex works great, not sure who's been telling you the success rate is low.
I actually merged 3 vBulletin databases (http://forum.vbulletinsetup.com/f4/ive-merged-vbmodder-com-vbulletinsetup-30438.html) last week with no problems at all.
Move the files on the target board into the database before making your backup, or you can leave them in a file system and include a path to those files during the import.
I've imported several scripts when I was doing vB work, never had a problem that couldn't be solved.
Read over the documentation linked above and you should be fine. Ask any questions in the impex forum on vb.com or open a support ticket.
