is so excellent..

I want the exact same thing on my site..

I want people to be able to see who's logged in via the forums (I know mirc users will be no visible)

Do you host your own irc chat room ?

Also what software are you using for your chat and what hacks have you made to you board..

Can you give me step by step instructions..?

Pretty please :)

Freddie is using jIRC as his chat room. The chat room can be found at http://www.jpilot.com I know how to get the users to display, however, the process is tedious. You will need the following:

Eggdrop Bot
Shell Account

Eggdrop Bot is easy to find, a server to run it on is another story. Many hosts do not allow shell access for the very reason of Bots. Many hosts frown upon Bots. You can however run the bot on another server and have it send the information to a text file that is in turn included in the index so users can see the result. IMHO, it's really not worth the trouble.

An easier way to do this is to come up with a hack that shows the users in specific forums. You could then set up a chat template and have it set up as a forum. This would be a much easier way to pull this off.

QuickChat.org offers a Java-based chat room executed through your browser. You can register your chat room name, user name, etc. through there.
