MSN messenger hack

anyone have the hack for msn messenger? or can make one. cause on my board im only gonna use msn

An MSN IM hack would certainly interest me!

The best you could do for MSN Messenger is storing & displaying their screen name. MSN Messenger doesn't have any web features at all. (Like send message, add to buddy list, anything like that).

Yes that is the big problem with creating this hack, there is no way to link to the MSN messenger software... not like ICQ and AIM where they give you a way to link.

I contacted MS support about this a while back and they were considering this, but I don't think it was very high on their priority list. Maybe if a few more people requested it they would make an interface available.

Since Messenger 3.0 there are some web aware features.. at least it appears that way since if you go to http://www.msn.com there is a panel for MSN features like your contact list, etc.. Is this a seperate program?

That seems to be a Microsoft server thing.

Microsoft has never made their web integration features available to the public. You can only access them on the Microsoft and MSN related sites.

Furthermore they have never made the object model of the Messenger activeX controls available so that others could script it.

An a lighter note, if you upgrade to Internet Explorer 6.0, it has MSN Messenger built into the Explorer Bars, making a hack irrelevant since Messenger is only available on Windows Machines.

im in the process of making a hack.
so far ive got the bar on msn.com replicated on my site.
it shouldn't be to difficult to make a hack to have another field, but i dont really know where to start, so could vB creators tell me how to add another field in the profile etc..

How about just something simple, just to show the MSN icon on the user's post and have it just linked to their profile? I'm sure this must be cake for some of you.

its just a sucking ms tool, like all the other ms "features"

icq SUX!! if i wanted spam id get a bloody account and sign up to bloody porn mailing lists, and its not real time either, its slow, it lags like a sodding pentium 2 playing quake 3 online, and its damned irritating having to click on the "send" key all time, or press alt+enter, um... try just pressing ENTER its much less stressfull, u only hate msn cos its made by M$.... lighten up yeah, its popular cos its good, not cos it comes bundled or anything, cos its good.

On a different note.....

im sure a modified "whos online" script, or bits of it could be used to make the msn icon appear, and light up in the bottom of your posts, same as the icq one does, i know HOW. i just cant, i dunno vb or php at all so.... leave it to someone who does :)

Yes, I would just like something simple for MSN. Just a template that says if the custom field I created for MSN handle is filled out, then display this image. The only hurdle is what to link it to. :)
