Social Group Chat?

I would really like to have a chat box added to the top of each social group. Is this possible? What kind of load would it put on the server? Any ideas on how I could implement this?

This is possible but it needs to be custom coded. I'd first select the optimal chat application and then hire a coder to modify it.

One approach could be to use arrowchat (which will add a footerbar chat) and add one chat room for every social group. Then custom code it to only show that chat room to members of of that social group.
