If you have done a paid request for someone and you give them a preview but they do not contact you back, how long should you leave it before you sell the style to someone else or release it here for free?

Give them a week if it's a genuine case, They might be offline, away for good reasons. Are they normally active here? check if they have visited here within the time period you sent the pm and if they have then send them one more pm and if still no response sell the style. Time is money. Your time when it comes to the crunch.

i have actually waited for 2 weeks. I look at it this way ..2 weeks is normal for someone to be on vacation. If that person did go on vacation at some point they should check there mail or get back. Then i would sell it or release to public. I have done it with style modifications and mods i have changed to fit forum needs.

It was the 14th August and I've seen them online since.
I'll give it till september then give it away for free here.

Reasons like this are why you should never work without a deposit ;)

Why release it for free? this will give the guy a free style as well as support from you. Hold on to it and advertise the style on your site, someone will come along that will purchase the style.
With the additional information, I wouldn't wait till September. Tell him it' now off the market and that you'll be offering it to the first person who shows interest.

Ditto. Establish yourself and get some credible references and they will know they're in good hands - as we tend to have some service providers around here who would rather scam once for $100 than actually learn how to do some quality work and make much more.

I was doing it to them as a favour more than for profit as I'm building myself up a portfolio before vB 4 to see if I can get a bit of work.
Anyway, thanks for the advice all.
