Hello

Would like some feedback on my gaming forum, www.GameRex.net. It's been open a couple of days now and would really appreciate what some experienced forum owners think of it so far.

Any suggestions/advise is welcome.

For your first forum, you seem to be getting the hang of this ;)

Personally, you may be starting off with quite a lot of forums. Each of your tabs has pretty much the amount of forums of the average website. This can be both overwhelming and detrimental towards activity, unless you make sure to get a lot going on beforehand.

Also, between the notice, welcome, chatbox, and top 5 stats, no one really wants to scroll down so much to see the main content of your website. Maybe you should play with those modules or consider a frontpage?

Keep in mind that you chose a highly competitive niche for your first forum. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback.

I've removed the tabs, and removed over half of the forums that weren't needed. I have also added a portal.

To be honest, the vbadvanced thing has been done so many times on other sites, its getting old. But, I have to be honest, the site has some nice colors. The good colors help off set the vbadvanced thing. Its like -1 for using vbadvanced like everyone else. But its a +3 for the color combination.

The meta description is too long, repeats too many words and has too many trash words.

The description does not need to be any longer then 12 - 15 words, and that is at the most. Exclude trash words such as "is, a". And do not repeat words such as gamersrx is repeated 4 times. The word favorite is misspelled, favourite - should be favorite. But why have it in there anyway?

Overall, I say your off to a good start.

You need to sort out your recent threads at the bottom, it should be in a side column I reckon

Nice colours, easy to read

Perhaps less site news on the front page and more articles relating to your topic

Yeah I also believe you have too many forums on the main page....
Game Genres IMO could be cut down and sub forums added, it would clean up your site a lot...
IMO I would also wrap a condition around your shoutbox so guests do not see it saying Loading... before they register...
Other than that, good first start for your first site!

My guess is you haven't even looked at my forum? Have a good hard look, and then compare it with MentaL's forum.

I admire your feedback. vbAdvance doesn't really work with my forum, and I have changed the Meta description.

We did add a sidebar column, but it interfered with the forums width. It stretched on some resolutions.

Thanks, but no thanks. I removed the 'Powered by vBulletin' - but I'm keeping the title how it is. It helps my site to get a higher page rank on search engines.
