Hello!
I am looking to start a forum, and possibly website, but I'm completely lost in what it should be about!? I have a few ideas but don't think any of them are solid enough. One I have been toying with is I'd like to create a forum for the city in which I live. I've searched on Google and can't find anything similar, apart from for the football team! Here people could discuss the city and the local bars, clubs, restaurants, upcoming and past live music, etc. It'd be aimed more so at ages 18-35, but anyone over 18 can join. If the forum worked and gained enough members then eventually I was thinking maybe local businesses may consider paying to advertise on the forum? Does anyone have any opinons? Could this work? Would people join? Would there be enough to talk about?
All replies appreciated.
Thanks.

Depends on where you live to be honest.

And I would recommend having a section for 13-18 year olds, considering they're the most likely to use a forum to find something to do.

(Being under-aged is usually boring considering the things to do for minors is limited.)

Here's (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/index.php)a taste of a city forum.
Yes, they can and do work.
Unfortunatley...somebody got there before me, lol. It isn't mine.

Thanks for that link. That's the kind of thing I'm going for.
I see that forum uses vBulletin, so can anyone tell me which mod/program that forum is using to do their advertising?
This page for example: http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/directory/compare.php
Does anyone know if there's a mod for this kind of thing? And it allows business owners to update their directory listing? I want something like this for my forum. If anyone can help please let me know.
Does vBulletin Project Tools allow this kind of thing?

Thanks,

P.

If you don't have a strong idea...don't start a forum.

I have an idea. I was just very unsure about whether it could work. But I'm going to give it a go. If it doesn't succeed then atleast I tried.
If someone could answer above questions I'd be grateful.
:)
