View Full Version : vBulletin 4.0 Development and Alpha Testing Update
vB.Org System
08-14-2009, 07:30 PM
In my last few announcements I've reported the team's progress on the last few remaining tasks, particularly porting templates to the new CSS-based markup and some additional enhancements and debugging in the new CMS.
I'm happy to report that, barring any surprises, we're still on track to start alpha testing the Forums product next week. All of its templates have had their rough conversion done, and more than 95% have been integrated. After the last few templates are integrated, we'll do a quick round of regression testing and fix whatever showstopper-level bugs we find, then alpha testing can begin.
A few weeks after alpha testing for Forums begins, we will begin alpha testing for the Suite.
Stay tuned for more announcements next week.

No announcement about pricing yet... :(
At least we know vB4 might be released in October and maybe we will know about pricing soon.

Hopefully it will be cheaper for us loyal customers ;)
I'm not counting on it though.

There will be discounts for license holders, both active, expired, and whether they've got owned or leased licenses, at least from what I read some time ago.

Ray has stated that the pricing has not been set in stone yet, but will be around the time vB 4.0 goes Gold at which time he will post an announcement about it.

Please don't post rumors like they are facts. Nothing has been decided on yet.

Hmm, will we have to pay a fee to download version 4 even if our licence is still active?
*have not been reading announcements properly lately sorry*

Since I'm a newbie to VB, is there a location in the forums that gives a quick recap of what the new version will do? I own a vbulletin license and am trying to see if I can replicate some of the features of a Ning.com site--inviting prople, personal page for members, events tab, etc.
Thanks,
Randall
