Update: PHP 4 should not throw white pages anymore. If you've downloaded the package before 08:53 AM, Pacific time August 12th, and run PHP 4, please re-download the software from the members' area again to get the updated package.

vBulletin 3.8.4

Although it's not exactly according to the published release timetable (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=273299), as we are still delayed by redirecting all resources available to prepare vBulletin 4.0 for its debut, vBulletin 3.8.4 is a maintenance version, which rounds up some usability related bugs, as well as address the problems for servers running PHP 5.3.0. 3.8.4 also addresses an issue with vbchop() causing PHP memory to hit memory_limit with very very very long posts filled with special entities on some non-standard configurations.

Issues resolved by 3.8.4 include the following:
PHP 5.3.0 Depracated messages [28380 (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/project.php?issueid=28380)]
PHP 5.3 Timezone Bug [28388 (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/project.php?issueid=28388)]
Plus Characters in Email Addresses [27748 (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/project.php?issueid=27748)]
Infractions and Infraction Points not showing correctly on "Search for Users" [27656 (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/project.php?issueid=27656)]
Invalid URL falsely returned [27278 (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/project.php?issueid=27278)]A complete list of the issues resolved by 3.8.4 is available in the Project Tools. (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/projectsearch.php?do=dosearch&issuestatusid[0]=4&sort=lastpost&sortorder=desc&tag[0]=fixed%20in%203.8.4)

Upgrading from Previous Versions

3.8.4 is a maintenance release. We recommend that all customers running prior versions of vBulletin 3.8 upgrade to benefit from bug fixes and stability improvements.

Full instructions for upgrading vBulletin are available here. (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/../docs/html/upgrade)

PHP and MySQL Requirements

Please note that vBulletin 3.8.x requires at least PHP 4.3.3 and MySQL 4.0.16 or later.

However, we recommend that vBulletin 3.8.x is run on PHP 5.2.9 with APC (or a similar opcode cache) and MySQL 5.1.32 for best performance and stability.

Download vBulletin 3.8.4

I have one question about 3.8.4....... when i purchased it was 3.8.3 and now first time i am going to upgrade it

Please tell me if i upload all the files to my server, will it not replace all the settings i have made on my server before? or what files do i need to upload it and replace them with older ones? and other files i can keep it........... for example if i just copy everything and paste it there, it will upload the new admincp files, images folder will be replaced with my existing skins perhaps deleted or some changings made?

What should be the step one? and do i really have to configue congi.php file again? can i just leave the old file on my system to work it fine?

No your settings will not be replcaed.

Only tings that will change are if you did some "hardcoding" into your templates, which you can or do not have to update. They will be highlighted in red for any changes that are recommended to be change/updated. :)

Make a backup or copy the changed images to your desktop, then upload all the new files. Then replace your images in your board as you see fit. :D

Also, yes you can leave the config.php file alone. When uploading the file will be called "config.php.new", no need to update or modify this file.

I'm not sure if this was posted here, but:

Note: We have been informed that the fixes put in for PHP 5.3.0 date requirements actually make the forum throw white pages for PHP 4.x users. Please do not download this current release unless you are using PHP 5.1.0 or newer. A new 3.8.4 will be deployed in place tomorrow, and I will update this announcement thread again at that point. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Thank goodness I'm using PHP 5 then!

1 issue with a script but a simple file edit corrected that. 2 minutes and 2 styles where updated without any problems. Everything works as it should.

why ":("?

Haha, that's a typo. I meant to say I'd just upgraded to 3.8.3 which meant I upgraded to 3.8.4 a few hours after I had just done an upgrade which was a little frustrating. :)

Installed, but forgot to save my images into one neat little package before. :(

Oh well, if I redo them enough, I might learn what I'm not suppose to do.
