I posted this in the ?how do I? forum:

Can users choose their own usergroup?

Can permissions to post on certain forums depend (automatically) on how the user answers certain questions in the user profile?

I would like everyone who registers to select if they are a friend or a critic of the forum. A friend would be in a usergroup called ?friend? but choosing ?critic? would put them in a usergroup called ?foe.?

Each group would have separate permissions.http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22006

I was told that this feature is not available. Smachol thought is was a neat idea and suggested that I post a request here. It's a feature I need and I bet it is something useful to others also.

It was implied that someone might offer to write a custom hack so that I can have this feature. Is anyone interested?

Sounds like a security threat waiting to happen - It would need to be a very well tested hack!

I like the idea though.

I would want users to be able to change their profiles. A “Friend” can become an “Enemy” and an “Enemy” could become a “Friend.” Users should have that choice. Yes, Enemies are expected to lie and change their profile to “Friend” so that they could post where they’re not welcome to post. An Administrator should be able to override their hypocritical profession (settings) and make a permanent determination if a poster is in the “Friend” or “Foe” category.

I'm sorry, but this request sounds truly schizophrenic to me.
