This is like asking a stranger if your baby is pretty or not!!
In the past two years I've tried every style that's worth trying. I finally went with a simple style and then tweaked it with my own colors and graphics. Y'all be easy on an old man BUT, be truthful.
I'm not worried about mass appeal. I mostly do this because I'm disabled and can't do much else. But, I do want a good looking workable site.
Thanks guys and gals.

The notepad-background needs to go. The lines are distracting. The header image needs to come alive with color. It's a really nice picture, but you need to kick life into the colors of it and brighten it up. The P.W. Outdoors should go in something out of the nature background, I think. I'd also remove the margin on the top that causes the white space between the nature header and the browser top. Since you've got it stretched across the screen, it could look better fully stretched so the nature goes from edge to edge or with more margin on the left and right with some kind of background similar to vBulletin.org. The colors on the rest of the forum are good on the eye. They'd look much better without that notepad-background. :-)

Thanks for checking it out. Yeh that background got rather annoying so I got rid of it and went with the alt1 color. Good suggestion on the left and right side padding or, overall width of site. I may look into a nice background to put behind it (like vbo's site).
Thanks for the input. It really does help to have someone else look at things.

hey its looking good, the colors are smooth and nice , i like that , the forums are set up well, so thats good , i would work on the header image , maybe hire a designer ,or learn some basic photoshop to get yourself a good logo and an appealing header image ..
But you are heading in the right direction!.

Great style, great setup, the colors and feel is on-point. In brief, you nailed the look.
Now what about some content? ;) There's a cool article mod out here, a few for that matter, for your articles section. Also, for your tips and suggestions you can use something like Answer Forums to create a directory of questions for the outdoors. What about a gallery with some neat pictures?

Really good points. I'm slim on content as I really consider the site to be in the early stages. I'm trying to recruit some outdoorsmen to write some articles for me. I'm really not into copying and pasting material from other sites.
I'm not making any effort to advertise the site until I feel comfortable with it's design and a few navigation problems I'm trying to figure out.
Thanks for the great input.
