I'm looking for a mod that will let me change the standard category icons in the main index page. Is there a mod available that is compatible with 3.8+?

I did a search but perhaps I'm not using the right terms.

Category icons?
My categories have no icons.. if you right click > open image in new tab. It'll open the image in a new tab and show you where that image is stored, just replace the image.

The icons on the main index that tell you if there's new posts in that section or not.

Again, right click, open in a new tab. Then see where they're saved and replace.

That would change them all. I would like different ones for each section.

This requires editing the template icons.. and directing each category icon to your custom icon.

Is this what you are asking about?
Forum Manager > select forum to edit > Prefix for Forum Status Images
Prefix for Forum Status Images
Forum Status images are usually shown alongside the forum in a forum listings to indicate the read status.

This prefix must only contain alphanumerical characters, though the following are also allowed - _ / ., a folder name is also acceptable to be placed within the status icon directory.

The following images are currently in use for status icons, you will need to create images with the specified prefix to match.
forum_link.gif
forum_new.gif
forum_new_lock.gif
forum_old.gif
forum_old_lock.gif

I think he means like this: http://www.totalgamingnetwork.com/main/index.php

I'm not sure you reply will work or not Lynne, haven't tried it yet, but I believe the above is exactly what he wants.

The images in the very left column of that page are exactly what I posted about. If you look at the names of the images, like the one in front of the PC forum is called "pcforum_old.gif", you can see that the prefix used for that forum is "pc".

Yep I tested it, and it works.

However you'll need 4 icons per section.

icon_new and icon_old as well as icon_new_lock and icon_old_lock.

The only change I made to get them to work was add a prefix. So for yours under prefix you write xbox. Also, yours have to be gifs.
