I've searched but to no avail. Is there any mod out there that will auto-lock threads older than 'X' (say 30) days ?? I have a rule of no replies to threads where the last post to it is 30 days old or longer, but people keep dragging up old threads from the graveyard.
'Would be great if there was a cronjob mod that would ask how long since last post, then once a night go through the forums and auto-lock all threads that are past their date.
I'd like to know about this too!

I've found this:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=133110&highlight=lock+thread
But that will lock active threads if they're older than 30 days. So if you have threads with an on-going discussion, at 30 days that mod would lock it anyway.
EDIT: actually that mod is useless anway - as I read further, it requires you to entire the threadID (??? - why not just lock it myself if I'm going to go through every thread one by one)
I'm also looking for one that will let me choose what forums it's active in.

Did you try This (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=130738)? I believe it's what I had installed a while ago... (Uninstalled since my users felt topics shouldn't lock.)

*PERFECT!* (it never showed up in my search)
That's EXACTLY what I need.
- being able to select by forum ID and,
- by date of last POST to thread, not just thread creation date
Installing now ..
THanks!

ACK!
That mod doesn't install. Gives a "Error opening file to writing" error on installation (and the mod thread has a LOT of posts from people saying it doesn't work). And the mod creator hasn't been on since May.
GRRR :(
So I'm still in the hunt for an auto-thread locker :)

That's weird, because I had it installed on a 3.7 forum and it worked flawlessly... and people have reported it working for 3.7 and 3.8 forums...

I fixed the problem.
Apparently you have to shell in with root (or someone wth enough privs at least) to chmod 0777 the cron directory so the mod can write to it.
Which is weird, because I have tons of other mods that need to run scheduled tasks and none of them required me to chmod the directory before.
Seems to be working now (I force-ran the scheduled task). Good stuff

Well the author did say You may need to chmod the includes/cron folder to 777 before installation and back (note your settings) after installation is complete.
It was in bold... lol... but glad it worked out for you.

Yah I'm the master of rushing through installations without following instructions. Totally didn't even see the big bold text :)
