I?m trying to take an advantage of vB and make as a membership management script along with the forum features, hacks that can be done to achieve this including:

1. Password Protection
This can be done to integrate the database with the .htaccess file, so that each user registers for vB, he/she has the same login and password for protected area.
Also .htaccess file is linked to the admin control panel.
I saw many posts and requests regarding this hack?but it seems unavailable so far.

2. Track logins and bad logins and report them
This is done by matching 2 ip addresses at the same time and report the abused login/password or delete it automatically.

3. Members Logging & statistic (time, ip address, KB downloaded?etc)
This is already present in the vB features, but needs more hacks to get a better statistics.

4. Download/Upload ratio based on each username (just like an ftp)
I don?t know how this can be done, if not thru a hack, probably thru a 3rd party script

5. Delete unused accounts for say 1 week (when the user doesn?t log during 1 week period)
This can be done thru inactivity period of the account, it was requested before, but it seems unavailable so far

6. Online members
This is already available in vB, but how can it be shown if the member is in the protected area and not vB forums.

7. Processing credit cards by Authorize.net, Itransact.com and CCBill.com

8. Custom form fields & Form fields checking
This is already present in vB, but needs more features like radio/drop down menus

9. Ban users upon domain/ip
This is already available in vB, but needs to be linked to the protected area as well, thru the .htaccess file, which also can be shown thru the admin control panel.

I know most of the users are looking for at least one of these features as a hack for vB, but to combine all these features you can get the vMembership script :D

For vB developers and vB hackers, start working on this project now :D

Trust me vB developers, there is no such powerful membership management script in the entire net with all these features?and you are almost there!!!

i run a site for a college, and i would like to track what each user downloads and how many KB downloaded...

i am thinking to make it as a token to reward the users...
they get these tokens (KBs probably) by:

(1) Money orders
(2) participating in the site and uploading (say for example lecture notes)

after in which they can download anything in the site...but the problem i don't know how to link all this with the admin CP and the whole site...

anyway, tell me what you think of the idea (vB as membership)

and if you know any means by accomplishing any of these hacks please help

thanks :)

This would be sublime :classic:

Certainly I think these would be very useful. I am trying to set up a site that uses vBulletin as its forum. It wants some parts of this to be public and some parts members only. Easy to accomplish within vBulletin but the members pay for their subscription so needs some interface with a payment gateway (currently WorldPay) and also management of the membership to prevent abuse and also to manage expiration of the subscription term etc.

Finally there is also a protected area on the site outside the bulletin board for members only information, articles, pictures etc. It would be great to link the vBulletin users with either .htaccess protection or something like PHPuserlogin or PHPSecurePages.

vBulletin is great but I can see its further potential for this sort of subscripotion membership management capability and a hack thatat integrates these would be fantastic. I am can see the concepts in my head but as a seriously newbie programmer I am not likely to create a hack myself for some time...

This would be sublime :classic:

Indeed, for us high-bandwidth sites, we could monitor which members are using the most transfer! This would be a really wicked awsome feature :)
