View Full Version : vbulletin server much slower then before?

For the last few weeks I have noticed that this site is much slower then before, is this just me or is this happening for everyone?
It used to be pretty speedy, but has been sucking lately.
A tracert show all responses under 100ms, so I'm assuming it's not a routing issue or the ISP.
Are you guys running higher then normal on the server loads here?
This site being owned by vb should be one of the fastest out there.... otherwise it's bad press imo.

Not having any problems at all, still as fast as ever, as far as I can see.

There have been some occasional DDoS attacks on the servers. Other than that, it seems fine.

Maybe I have bad timing then...
After hitting submit it takes about 2-3 seconds to post.... most sites are instant.. this one is dragging for some reason for me.
thanks for the replies though.

I just clicked new post and it took over 6 seconds to load.... most of the time the status said "waiting on www.vbulleton.org... "
I'll see what it's like next week and report back.

After trying it again it's the server and not me.... lol

Search took 2.78 seconds.
My normal for most servers is 0.05 or less all the time, maybe I'm just spoiled?

I know what you mean about it being slow when I do have issues, but for me at the moment is not one of those times, I just got:

I find the site(s) performing reasonable most of the time, but occasionally it feels like the server is hanging for a short time.
Page load also seem to be extremely high when you have just received a new pm for the first page load.
Further it might simply be an issue where the server is just under a higher load. Server could be under high load because of an attack, but we are also running more extra manual queries prepairing for vB4.

Thanks for the replies and info... vb.com works just fine though.... I'm not sure if they are on the same server, but if so I'm either being delayed by the miserable users modification or there is something wrong here... lol
anyway I will deal with it, it has only been like this for a few weeks, I'm sure in time it will correct itself or get worse to the point of fixing whatever it is.

They are on the same servers, I believe. They just share the web/db server. I think that goes for all the other vB.com official websites? (Note: just assuming, considering some posts I've seen here on vB.org from Wayne)
Kind of like VPSlink/Spry.

"the last few weeks"

The bottom line is they are both much slower then before and it sucks to wait for pages to load too...
When my sites are 20x faster then vb there is a problem... lol
Does IB want to pay me to host this site for them? lmao it would be faster then... lol

Here is a tracert too showing it's not a connection issue either.
I'm sure the admins here know exactly what's up... - very high server loads!

I'm cruising along fine here, but having a hard time over on vb.com (which makes no sense, except weird server sense, since they are on the same server).

Going slow for the last 15-20mins for me. At times it's been down too.

this sites been very slow today, since the last 20 mins or so
the vb team should try rebooting their server or getting the equipement upgraded if they are on a dedicated server

What good would rebooting the server do if it's another ddos attack? (I don't know that it is, but they do seem to happen at least every few weeks.) Also, they *hate* to reboot their servers! :D

As noted above, there was a DDOS attack yesterday, all is back to normal now.
