Colors For Usergroup In Forum Last Post

You like colored usergroups? Looking for mods which add it in different paces? Like to have last post author colored in forum display?

So came and get it!
This mod shows usergroups HTML markup in forum last post author :)

Simple and Easy! Just install last release of product :) (see number at the end of filename)
No template modifications :)

Known Issues:
- When you change usergroup for user who made last post, or change usergroup markup, then it is not updated in view till new post arrives in forum. It means, that in case of such changes style visible in last post will be the old one. It is because it is cached, but only till new post arrives (then will be cached new value). I have it in TODO list, but because of performance issues probably I will leave it this way. Even when somebody notice it, it will disappear fast (assuming that people are writing on your forum :p)

NOTE for vB 3.7.x: (Not concern 3.7.6) Some people note troubles with uninstalling this mod on vB 3.7.x If you install, it is not possible right now to uninstall. Still works fine and in case you want to get rid of it you can just disable - so from my point of view - feel free to install it.

Open product file and change minversion="3.8.2" to your version. I don't guarante it will be working, but I think that it will, also you can always uninstall if not.

I did that and worked Perfect , but only for the last post users.
Opened the XML file with wordpad made the change and saved it and uploaded it.

What about the users saying Thanks or receveing Groans.

Can you do something for that.

This mod should affect only last post author - I see no possibility to affect anything else (but of course it can be) - are you sure that this mod causes it? Could you disable my mod for moment and check does the issue still exists?

For every one interested - resolved. It is hassan's mod fault (the one which colors everything without forum last post) - so till now this mod works fine :D

Remember - this mod colors only FORUM last post so any other places are not affected by it :)

Also I found solution for you - if you use hassan's mod an cmps:
for all styles find edit template adv_portal_newsbits:

This mod don't change html markup in any way - just include it - so maybe you have something wrong with your html markup style?...

Not necessary. You see this is not a problem with mod functionality - this is problem with vB functionality. Thos mod has empty uninstallcode section - whatever bad happens during uninstall it happens because of vB code.

Ok I just made uninstall on my forum - everything works fine. So uninstall code is ok. Everything is ok on my forum.

I back to opinion that this is vB problem. Know that's not helping, but as you can see erroe message has nothing common with uninstall code. vB gets stupid with productid which is set in this mod. I have nothing to change on my side right now.

Really want to help, but error message shows not real data.

Try to install again with override option and then uninstall. Maybe this will help.

In the meantime - just disable.

Test forum uses custom style and 3.8.3. Installed and uninstalled without any problems.
I downloaded 3.7.6. Installed and uninstalled on default style without any problems. I simply changed the XML minversion to 3.1

I add comment - all confirmations are made by people who are using this mod. Also it is confirmation of working - and it works. Problem is with uninstalling, which wasn't noted before as related with version. First post is updated right now :)

Maybe this is the problem - maybe you booth (I know only 2 cases - correct me if I'm wrong) didn't fallow exactly instructions and made mess in product file. Of course - this is only a guess, I'm not telling that you did.

Getting back to versions - on which versions of vB exactly you have problem with uninstalling.

This mod does nothing with cookies. The problem have to be somewhere else - you can easly chack it by dissabling mod and see that problem still exist - what means that mod is not the cause of problem.

You have to set it :) In Admin CP -> Usergroups -> Usergroup Manager -> select group, set Username html markup. i.e.:

I'm Experiencing the same Issue on vB373 PL1, and also the E-mails and Private Messages are Being Affected and they don't Display Anymore the Board Name, the Board URL, and perhaps other Necessary Info for Users to Activate their accounts and Perform other Activities; also the Private Messages are Being Affected. :confused::confused::confused:

I Confirm that the Problem I Have in My Board is Caused by this Mod. :(

I've Logged in my Account at Stangger5's Board and I Requested the Username and Password Reset Mail, and I Got this Mail with the Missing Info.

Stangger, perhaps Your Latest New Registrants Aren't Able to Activate their Accounts if you use the Activation Mail System, because they won't get the Activation Link on their Activation Mail, and also they won't be able to Perform any Actions like this Until this Problem can be Solved; I can see that You're Not Using the Activation E-mail System; if You Try it you'll see the Problem on Your Board Too.

Perhaps there are other Users that have Installed this Mod and haven't Noticed Yet that the Username is missing on the Login Message (I noticed since Yesterday but thought that was caused by other Mod) and also haven't noticed that their New Users haven't been able to Activate their accounts, (I noticed since Yesterday and ALL New Accounts weren't Activated, and Only Today when I Installed another Mod that Checks for E-mail to be Valid before Completing Registration Process I Realized this Problem, and I Installed that Mod because I Got Upset for People Creating Accounts and Not Activating them, and Now I'm Surprised that This Mod is Causing that HUGE and ENORMEOUS PROBLEM).

When I manually Delete the "lastposter_displaygroupid", from the Table PREFIX_forum on the Database, I get a DataBase Error when I Try to Access the Board and the Admin Contron Panel, WHY? :confused:
You manually deleted a field used by an active mod (why ??), hardly surprising you then get a database error. What did you expect to happen ? :)

Only by Creating the Field Again on the PREFIX_forum Table is that I'm Allowed to Login Again, WHY?? :confused:You re-created the field you deleted, therefore fixing the error you caused in the first place. :cool:

I really don't see how possibly this mod could affect emalis ans PM's. I need to confirm that it really is caused by this mod. Dissabe it and check does problem still exists - if yes you can enable mod - somesthing else made problems.

I've Logged in my Account at Stangger5's Board and I Requested the Username and Password Reset Mail, and I Got this Mail with the Missing Info.

Stangger, perhaps Your Latest New Registrants Aren't Able to Activate their Accounts if you use the Activation Mail System, because they won't get the Activation Link on their Activation Mail, and also they won't be able to Perform any Actions like this Until this Problem can be Solved; I can see that You're Not Using the Activation E-mail System; if You Try it you'll see the Problem on Your Board Too.

Perhaps there are other Users that have Installed this Mod and haven't Noticed Yet that the Username is missing on the Login Message (I noticed since Yesterday but thought that was caused by other Mod) and also haven't noticed that their New Users haven't been able to Activate their accounts, (I noticed since Yesterday and ALL New Accounts weren't Activated, and Only Today when I Installed another Mod that Checks for E-mail to be Valid before Completing Registration Process I Realized this Problem, and I Installed that Mod because I Got Upset for People Creating Accounts and Not Activating them, and Now I'm Surprised that This Mod is Causing that HUGE and ENORMEOUS PROBLEM).

How did you confirmed that this mod is causing your problems??? Doing this you confirmed that this mod is NOT causing problem, because problem exists when mod is dissabled.

Once again - you are looking in wrong place. You booth have this mod and booth have this problem doesn’t means that this mod is causing this (wee booth eat breakfast and wee booth will die some day - it means that breakfasts kills people ;)).

As you wrote problem exists when mod is disabled - that simply means that problem is somewhere else. Also you made mess yourself in DB - I hope that you returned column as it should be. It would be wise to uninstall and install again mod, since you will be sure that you are using my mod, not just garbage which you done messing in DB. I'm not supporting others solutions - only mine.

I will gladly help if it will have something common with my mod. I love to make my mods better, but I really believe that problem is somewhere else.

You can simply dissable mod in Admin CP no file changes are required :)

You can simply check what changes in DB mades this mod - just open product file:

One column is added - that's all..

I don't want to Condemn the Author, I Just Want a Solution to the Problem that THIS MOD caused on My Board, Stangger5's Board, and perhaps in the Future other Users will Report this same Problems on their Boards.

A vBulletin Problem Triggered by something on the Installation Process? Perhaps a Problem on the Installation Process under Unknow Circumstances? Something on the Forum Table Alter? Something on the Filling of that Table? Something on the Work of the Plugins? I DON'T KNOW, I just know that this Mod Triggered Those Problems, and I Hope the vBulletin Moderators, Gurus, that Perhaps Experienced this Same Problem and Got it Solved could Point Us into the Solution.

The Board of Gemma, (check the Profile to see Web Site), has the same Problems (ALL OF THEM) and has THIS MOD Installed; I think Gemma doesn't Know yet about them or doesn't know that This Mod is Causing those Problems on the Board. :confused:

I Think Is Very Important to Send a PM to All Users that Downloaded and to those that Installed this Mod for them to Check this Anomallies on their Boards; some of them should have them and don't know (not yet noticed this errors) or don't know what caused them, and ask them to Report Back in case they are experiencing them.

Something is breaking the $vboptions[bburl] and $vboptions[bbtitle] in Activation/Password Reset emails but I doubt it is this mod.

We all Got this Error Exactly when we Installed this Particular Mod; and also the Error that don't Displays the Username when Loggin in (You Have that Error Too On Your Board). :confused:

This is Not happening to All Boards but a Few Ones; for some Unknown Reason (perhaps during the Install Process) it Happened to Us (4 Boards with the same Errors).

It can't be said that is because the Board was Working, because my Test Board is Disabled and No User Besides me Access it; I also Ran the Upgrade php File on the Boards and Nothing Happened, (sometimes that Routine Corrects things); so we Hope that vBulletin Gurus and Webmasters that had this same Problem and Solved it or that have some Ideas on how to Correct it, can Tell us What we can Do, to do it and Hopefully Correct the Errors Caused by This Mod. :confused:

I'd say that Installing this Mod is a Risk; I'd Recommend Making a Complete Database Backup (with a software such as MySqlDumper), and Hope that Your Board Don't Get Damaged like Ours Did; of course, Test it First in Your Testing Board, but Make the Backup Copy of your Real Board Before Installing this Mod, and After Installing Run a Routine such as the one to Ask for the Username and Password Change, and Create a New Account with the Activation Code Request Activated on the ACP, and Check if the Username is Not Displayed on the Login Welcome Message that is Presented when You Login, (I Posted one a few Posts Before), and if You Get that Error Report it Here.

My Best Regards and Hopes for some Pointers on What We Can do? What Table and Fields on the DataBase Should we Check? It is killing the phrasetype table...
I had three pages in the phrasetype table,,,then when I install this mod,,it only has 15..

Yes - I read many times that you are sure that this mod causing the problems. Also read that after dissabling this mod problem still occures, that's why I don't believe it is this mod cause.

I read rest of discussion - new idea appears that this mod is crashing phrases (probably during installation proces). Just look inside of product file - this mod even is not using phrases. Not at all... Also look on instalation code - it uses only 'forum' table - nothing more.

This mod has nothing common with phrases.

I read that you are 100% sure that this mod is guilty. I'm not at all, but I'm willing to check it. Since everything is working well on my forum I cannot reproduce the issue. Someone wrote that he is 100% sure, because he put it on test forum and then issue appears. Please give me access to such test forum, before this mod installation. I will install it myself and see what is happening :)

If you have backup and only phrases are wrong - just restore phrases table. Best way - inserting with ignoring changes if key already exists - this way you will put all your old phrases and keep all new phrases if you have such.

I had an older backup..
I found the missing tables and added them back one by one..
Some tables was still there,,I just had to edit the default settings back..

global.php is native vB file and it crashes vB :eek:
Which version of VB are you using? This is vB bug - maybe it should be noticed to vB stuff... assuming that it is not corrected yet. I'm using vb 3.8.2 and it is ok.

Since like most users I never had this issue, I trust your work and want to thank you :)

1.0.1 is already released correcting this issue (without including global.php). There is no need to update. Change was made only in installation section. It is for future users.

There is already other mod which colors everything without last forum post. My make the rest ;) So use booth :)

Solved.

Go to PhpMyAdmin>SQL and write:

It is not a good solution - but still it works :) Mod is cleaning DB changes during uninstall. Usage of this column is added by mod plugin (Update cache) so if mod is uninstalled then vB should delete all plugins for it and what you are describing shouldn't ever happen. If it does - for me it means some vB bug.

Yes - I'm aware of this issue. It stays in old way since it is cached. And when you change usergroup for someone, or color of usergroup it doesn't affect the cache. I didn't care about it before because it is usually short termed - when someone writes anything new then cache will be populated with actual data - even it it is same guy who previously stays in old fashion style.

I put it in my TODO list, but it has low priority for me - will be fixed when I find time for it.

Till then you can just relax - you don't have to uninstall and install it again - all what is needed it is wait till new post occurs for specific forum :) Mostly people don't have enough time to see it. And even if do - it is harmless :)

Not really :P I'm playing with usernames in many places working on translation mod to not translate usernames (this is the mod: http://www.vbenterprisetranslator.com/forum/free-version/2-free-vbet-vb-enterprise-translator-2-x.html).

So it will be very easy for me to use this experience in this one. I just have to focus first on bigger mod - vBET. Then on my tagger (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=218350). And then I can add new possibilities to this one :)

It will not be hard, just need some time, cause each place where username is displayed have to be handled individually. So global working means here - handle all occurrences ;)
