Edited Posts Show as New

First, I apologize for giving up on the search for the answer to this question and posting...

Is it possible...does there exist... code/mod/add-on that would allow an edited to post to show up as New again after editing?

I use my forums as an online RPG (role playing game) and we edit in responses to the other characters' dialog and action rather than opening New Replies.

If anyone out there knows of a way to make an edited post appear as New, I would greatly appreciate it.

There was a thread here where this was discussed and someone said they were gonna write a mod, but I don't think they ever did. If you are thinking of writing it yourself, you may want to search for that thread because I think they were discussing how to go about doing this in that thread.
