INTRODUCTION

Important information regarding file uploads for this hack:

To install this product, you must upload a bunch of files. The .htaccess file goes into your website root, and all other files go into your forum root. If your website root is different from your forum root, please open the .htaccess file and edit it according to the instructions in that file.

If there is already a .htaccess file in your website root, you must copy the contents of the file in this package and paste it into the one you already have.

Interested in trying this out. Could definitely help with the back links in my social marketing efforts.

My only concern is the original URL getting indexed so I end up with dupe content on 2 different URLs?

Okay, I like this, and wanted to give this a shot.

Edited the .htaccess since my forums are in a subdirectory of my main site though the main site is just vbadvanced.

But I can't for the life of me figure it out how to get this to work. Maybe I'm incorrectly reading what this does?

Say I have a sub-forum on my site dedicated to reviews.

In the admincp, at keywords, I'd put the following?

Keyword: reviews
Target URL: http://www.mysite.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=49

So if I'm reading correctly, I should just go to:
http://www.mysite.com/reviews
or
http://www.mysite.com/forums/reviews

Neither work though, so maybe I'm misreading what this does, or I screwed up somewhere?

The keyword should be prefixed with go/ e.g.
http://www.mysite.com/go/reviews
or
http://www.mysite.com/forums/go/reviews

In order for this hack to work, your server has to support .htaccess files, and you have to configure the file that comes with this hack properly. If you don't know how to configure the file, please post the URL to your forums and I will attach a file for you.
