:) well here are my thoughts as a designer and a user...
First , i expected the usual US colors , such as whites, reds , blues etc.. and a much more organized and clean scenario , with some interesting portal such as that of a good politics website .. You didnt give us a good description ( or at all ) of what you intend to do with the website..
Personally i do not like it .. Its really dark and boring , for that sort of site...
In any terms , i still think you have QUITE a way to go.. hopefully you can add some light colored theme, with a better Logo//banner , and a good sense of content and color...
Thats just me , my rating 2/10 .
2/10 I guess honesty is the best policy lol, but at least a 3 and well its purpose is to serve as a forum and a place for civil live chat regarding our ever changing political landscape. Who knows if it will catch on, but I would like it to be informative and help other people however possible. Also I originally was thinking the lighter colors, but our web designer went with the darker colors and I didn't see the necessity to change it yet. I actually think its looks good. As far as content goes, I'm working on it. Anyways thanks for the feedback, any feedback is better than none.
Thanks Again,
ots
PS keep the suggestions coming!!!
and whats this other website you speak of with this interesting portal? ill look into it!

I like the simplicity of your forum and that it doesn't overwhelm me with a ton of ads and crap like that. When I go to a forum I want to see the main forum not have to search for a link to get to it as many do using VBA so your site does this very well. The color isn't good though and is quite difficult to read. I think your forum would be great in color. How about trying muted colors maybe? No quite saturated but almost?
Good luck and I hope you're forum grows tremendously. :)

Layout is good, but I need some alive colors. It's gray and boring. Consider setting a 1 pixel border on the textboxes and so instead of the thick 3D border. The light-gray background contrasts too much with the very dark table content color when you navigate into the forums. It's like it's choking the content.
OLC was just updated, were just looking for a new header picture.(anyone have suggestions please feel free to let me know!) Also now you just need to post once to become a member. Plenty more updates on their way, as well as content! Hope you guys like it so far!
Any comments , feel free.

I also use this same design but I have had problems with it. The color is much better of course and easier to read. Your previous header may look good with this if it is spruced up a bit. I have you checked vbskin.com for more free designs? I think there is one there that might work well for you.
Hope this helps. :)

That is a nice, clean style actually - you could definitely do well to have a custom logo/header designed, along with matching forum status icons and buttons! That would improve the quality of your style and make it unique. But as it is now - It's a bit naked and needs help.
Jacquii.
custom header is coming, Ill keep you guys updated!
Thanks for the comments!

Threads merged. Please only open 1 thread per site.
Thanks for the merger, but I was just going to let that thread die... Whatever though... Anyways OLC is close to the grand opening ceremony. :D
Just added CoverItLive... Looking for some positive suggestion. I'm open for anything, let me know.

A more lively look would be nice. Possibly a picture of Obama is a start.
What do you think of the CoverItLive function embedded at the top? And the banner needs to be unique so it's taking some time, any ideas?

the skin is good but how about a better banner and adding some good content. ppl aren't going to magically appear and do it for you. do your site the favor!

well it's not what we want to see, it's what your users want to see because we're only here to review it. But just a friendly suggestion, I would take that "cover it live" application down from the homepage and put it on a new page... or if it's needed on the forum homes, split the forum into two columns and put the widget on the side of the forums.
Either way, the box is taking up too much space and I believe it draws away from the real attention of your site. That's just one suggestion...
Thanks for the suggestion. We are going to make the switch to ajax... CoverItLive, might make as a side widget.
Thanks for taking the time to review,
