Drive Thru Online ? Garage
Overview
DTO Garage is a free product allowing all members of a site to show off their car, truck, motorcycle or other powersports toy. Site owners can easily adapt the section and subsection titles to suit the attributes to the site's focus. Images are stored locally preventing broken links and over limit displays common with images linked offsite. Drive Thru Online has made upgrading to the paid version of DTO Garage Plus easy, all user data stored in DTO Garage is retained for a seamless transition.
For users, management of their vBulletin garage is conveniently handled through their user control panel. The intuitive user interface encourages even the most challenged to create a compelling Garage. Images are added via a wizard from either the users own computer or a specified URL. Thumbnails are dynamically created with high-resolution images displayed in a navigable Lytebox. Users can designate whether a garage is visible to the rest of the site members or hidden until they have time to polish the information and give it the debut it deserves. Other users can view garages using interactive pop-up menus embedded in each post or through the Garage owner's profile.
Key Features
vBulletin Options-based customization of information collected and presented in garages
User management of garages via User Control Panel
Simple-to-use image uploads per garage
Lytebox presentation of high resolution garage images
bbCode supported in information areas
Additional image placement in information area supported
Dynamic presentation of garages in postbit and user profile
Embedded full featured searchable and indexed Help
Fully documented
Fully supported
Language Translation
As of version 1.1.3 DTO Garage has not been fully phrased and only supports English. With a future release it is our intent to offer a fully phrased version to support language translation of the product. When the fully phrased version is available we will provide documentation and tools to speed translations of the product for use on your site. We will also encourage those who have performed a translation to contribute it for distribution to other members. Any contributed languages will be included with this thread and credit given to the author. Site owners are free to translate the product either in its current state or future releases as they see fit given that the note found in the following Upgrade section is followed when upgrading. While Drive Thru Online will provide information to translators regarding the context of wording we can not provide support to facilitate the actual translation itself.
Compatibility
Fully compatible with vBulletin 3.6.8 through vBulletin 3.8.x
PHP 5.X or later (compiled with GD support) and MySQL 5.X or later is required.
Upgrading from a previous version of DTO Garage
Prior to installation/upgrade we recommend that you perform a back up of your site's database and files.
After unzipping the attached package open readme.html in your browser.
Click on the ?Documentation & installation instructions? to view the complete documentation for Garage.
Note: If you have customized the DTO Garage templates in a previous release it is recommended that you make a copy of your changes, revert to the version of templates included with the new release and migrate your changes into the new version's templates. Failure to do this may cause the product to operate improperly and/or support new features that may have been added to the product.
If you use a custom style for your site you may have to modify the garage templates. For more information refer to this how-to (http://www.drivethruonline.com/support/f12/getting-drive-thru-online-garage-free-navbar-work-your-styles-213/#post673) written to address the most common modifications required.

Potentially but it would likely require code and/or extensive template/phrase editing. That said we do offer another product that can be easily used for the type need you mention. Since it is a paid product I can't promote it here but you can PM me or visit our site for additional information.
Thanks!

Working demo??
We don't currently have a publicly accessible demo available. I'll be providing videos of our products after I return from a vacation with my family. In the meantime you can view an actual Garage entry on one of our customer sites here (http://truestreetcars.com/forums/dto_garage.php?do=viewvehicle&vehicle_id=1031) (Note: this is not one of our sites) . You can also use the Garage link in the above site's navbar to see some of the search and browse functions included with the Plus version.

Was having the same error as Twitch
In the product-dto_garage.xml I had to remove some spacing from the table create lines.
Change from this:
CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS " . TABLE_PREFIX . " DTO_garage_vehicle (
To this:
CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS " . TABLE_PREFIX . "DTO_garage_vehicle (
Notice the spacing between the quote and DTO , that space needs removed for the next 3 occurrences. The 4th Table create line is correct. Hope that helps, solved my problem.
Thanks for the cool mod!!

I apologize but we obviously missed this in our testing. I've resolved the issue (an extra space prior to our table names when using a vB table prefix), repackaged, and reuploaded a new zip to this thread.
If you are using prefixes for your vBulletin table please redownload the attached .zip and install. If you are not using vBulletin prefixes there is no need to redownload/reinstall.
Again, I apologize for missing this and I'll add this testing scenario to our future regression tests.

Since you've uninstalled the issues you mention are probably moot but I wanted to address them just the same. :up:
In this version there is not a Garage link in the navbar (browse, search, etc. is offered in our Garage Plus product which is a paid version).
As for the db error this was a TABLE_PREFIX related issue and has been resolved. A new zip attachment has been uploaded to the first post in this thread.
If you didn't have the features you need keep in mind that this is the free version of the product and is limited in functionality. The paid version includes usergroup permission control over the number of garages, browse and search functions delivered from a navbar link, vBSEO sitemap generator add-ons to enable crawling of user garages and more. If you need even more customization control then our ShowCase product addresses those needs and can be used for a broader range of sites. Visit our web site to learn more.
If you have additional requirements for Garage or other products you would like to see just PM me with those requirements. We'll certainly consider all suggestions for future releases. Since we work on vBulletin products 100% of the time and have a team of three we're always looking for new opportunities in the vBulletin space.

Phrasing takes up very little db space and does not affect performance. All of the section headers in the garage edit and presentation interface can be changed via the DTO Garage vBulletin Options interface. This is covered in our documentation (under the Support tab >> Documentation >> DTO Garage >> 1.1.0) if you need additional information.
Thanks!

Sorry - I didn't realize that you were attempting a translation rather than changing the section headings. :)
Per your earlier message I sent you a PM about a German translation. As I mentioned in my PM the product is about 80% phrased right now. In the meantime, you would need to search the product templates and phrases to make the needed changes for your use. There shouldn't be any language elements in our code.

This free version only supports one garage space per member. The paid version does support multiple garage spaces per user definable by usergroup.

This placement is done with a thread hook and was tested with both legacy and regular postbits. To use the Legacy Postbit:
Go to vBulletin Options
Select Style & Language Settings
Set Use Legacy (Vertical) Postbit Template to Yes
Save
This should force the Garage pop-up link to be displayed on the left-hand side of the postbit if the user has visible garage entries defined. Here is a sample image from one of my test installations.

Is this creating a page rendering issue for you? If so, can you provide a screen capture so I can see how it is affecting the display? Also, let me know what browser and operating system you are seeing this with and if you are using any type of special DOCTYPE stylevar. With our development we used the standard setting supplied by vBulletin on product installation which is:

It doesn?t creates an issue, I only wanted to give you an advice to correct it. :)
But it isn?t as necessary, because a search engine can?t crawle this template, because it only for registered members.
Another question to the postbit legacy include, how can i include the link to the garage like carlosacgj wants to have?
Have I overread a passage in the installation manual?

Thanks! I'll add this to our list of items for the next product revision.
But it isn?t as necessary, because a search engine can?t crawle this template, because it only for registered members.
The pop-up menu and its links are, technically, visible to everyone, including search engines, visiting your forums if you have your permissions set to allow visitors to view your forums and threads. Keep in mind though that the Garage link only displays if the owner of that post has a garage entry saved and Allow others to view this vehicle is set to Yes.
The real crawlable content is in the garage itself. In the paid version, one of the features included, is a vBSEO sitemap generator add-on to insure that all visible garage content is crawled by the search engines. In our testing we've found the sitemap to more quickly push the content into Google than just the vBSEO custom rewrite rules. In one case a customer created an entry that had some unique keywords in it. Within 24 hours searching for these keywords via Google showed this in the first page of results.
To see a comparison of the features of Garage versus Garage Plus click here (http://www.drivethruonline.com/images/vbulletin-garage-versus-garageplus.gif).
Another question to the postbit legacy include, how can i include the link to the garage like carlosacgj wants to have?
Have I overread a passage in the installation manual?
You should only have to do the following:
1. Go to vBulletin Options
2. Select Style & Language Settings
3. Set Use Legacy (Vertical) Postbit Template to Yes
4. Save
Again, in order for the Garage link to display requires that the owner of the post have a garage entry saved and set to visible. I usually test this by creating a test thread myself after building a sample garage for myself and set "Allow others to view this vehicle" to yes.
If it doesn't work for you in this fashion please PM me and I work with you to get it working (please note that I'm traveling right now with family and may not have Internet access for a several hours).
Thanks!

Hello, in case i install it and good working, i?m thinking in the plus version, but my question is, am i aloud to translate it to my native language=Portuguese?

The products are about 80-90% phrased right now. I know that another user was interested in providing a German translation. If both of you would be willing to provide the translations after we fully phrase everything I would like to include that in our general distributions and manage it in our product release cycles. Let me know if you would be interested in this and we'll coordinate a release to incorporate these translations. Feel free to contact me via PM to discuss further.

i have on my "garage" one car
i have on my template the hook "postbit_userinfo_right"

You have the same problem as I have. The hook is correctly installed in the template. The plugin is correct, but it doesn?t appears in the postbit...
:)
@nalexandre To translate your garage manually, you have first to translate all phrases and then translate the templates :)
The German translation can I do, tell me then I shall start.

carlosacgj and Kolbi,
It will be difficult to debug the issues you are seeing without being able to see the installation itself and insert some debugging code into the plug-in. Being able to do this would be insure that the plug-in is operating correctly and where the problem may be.
If you would be open to this we can do it one of two ways. The easiest and if you would be comfortable with it (and given I would be able to use the English translation) would be to log into your admincp and add the debugging code to the plugin, do the testing, and determine where the problem lies.
The other method would be to arrange some type of screen sharing and instant messaging session and have you be my remote hands.
As I'll be traveling until June 30 I am not online until each evening (Mountain Time) the first option would be more expeditious and you can remove whatever account you created for me as soon as I have completed the debugging. The admin permissions I would need are:
Can Administer Settings - to access the Garage settings
Can Administer Styles - to access the Garage templates
Can Administer Plugins - to access the Garage plugins
If you want to take the second approach we would have to schedule a time and arrange the technology to communicate effectively.
PM me with your preference and I will work with you to get these issues resolved.
Thanks!
Mark

In this version here every usergroup is allowed to have one car/motorcycle.

Do you have a garage entry added for your garage and the entry visible to other members? The link will only show up if you have a garage entry defined and it is made visible to others.
If this is a case, as Nathan mentions, it may be a conflict of some sort with other plugins you may have. Nathan will test these against our installation and we'll let you know what we find.

Sorry to hear that you decided not to use Garage. The paid version includes a number of SEO features, usergroup permission-based garage allocation, and advanced browse and search functions (these appear in the nav menu along with the documentation for users). Additionally the price also includes free installation service.
One thing that is a little different from other mods is that we have a full-time team of three and all we work on are vBulletin products and plugins. While other products may be cheaper or free you likely won't receive the level of support, documentation, and ability to provide input into what comes in future releases that we provide our customers.
Sometime in the future I hope you'll revisit working with our products and our team.
Best regards,

Yea I set it to show up, logged in as my test user account and went to my normal users profile page and the garage tab was there and I could view it from there.
I set the 2 plugins to off per the settings they have and still didn't show up. Only thing I haven't tried was disable or uninstall them completly.
*EDIT*
I just went and disabled both plugins via the plugin page and still did not get the garage link. So the only thing I haven't done is uninstall them.
Is there some code I can manually add to my postbit for the link? even if it doesn't have the hoverover function that would be ok with me at this point.

SonicGT - does your modified postbit template have the following code in it?
$template_hook[postbit_userinfo_right]
We have a plugin that builds this for the postbit. Can you verify that this is present in your template?
As for the postbit in Garage its really not the standard postbit template. I built a postbit look to the display of the Garage entry but it doesn't use the standard or legacy postbit template to display the information.
Thanks!

I think I have the failure:
Look into the "dto_garage_postbit_userinfo" template there stands: "$dto_garage_popup_menu" but I can?t find this phrase.
Late last night I think I found the cause of the no postbit garage link issue. It appears that something from our source code control worked its way back into the release. Given that I'm currently sitting in a campground in southwestern Colorado I don't have access to our source code control system. I really need to be able to carefully go back through some of the code versions to find where the problem was introduced and then roll the fix back in. In the meantime I've provided a temporary fix in the way of a plugin. To install this do the following:
Save the attached file, dto-garage-tempfix.xml, to your desktop
Log in to admincp
Go to Plugins & Products > Plugin Manager
For the DTO Garage Postbit Pop-up Menu click delete and confirm the deletin
Go to Plugins & Products > Download/Upload Plugins
Under the section "Import Plugin Definitions XML File" select the dto-garage-tempfix.xml file from your desktop and click Import
You should now see the Garage link in your postbit
As soon as I get back to the office I'll get a complete fix in place for this issue, repackage, upload, and provide an update post to this thread. Thanks for your patience while I'm away from the office :up:
Best regards,
Mark

Crap, my server doesn't have php 5.0 or MySQL 5.0 installed. Any chance of increased compatability with older versions (4.0?) in the near future? I guess I'll have to start bugging my web host to upgrade his servers since we're on first name basis, lol.

Sorry for the delay in replying to this and other recent posts. I've just returned from a vacation with my family and have not had Internet access for the past two days.
As for the code change there was a permission check that had apparently crept in during a product file update from our source control system. This was from our Garage Plus product. I removed this permission check and delivered this in the plugin download above.
Again, I apologize for the delay in responding to the additional questions posted.

</if>
Does what I want. :) It displays the phrase for example Kolbi?s Garage
Or don?t I understand this code...
$dto_garage_popup_menu is actually a variable that, when referenced, in a template contains the needed html to render the pop-up menu. Currently the $use_username_in_link is not being set as it is for future expansion hence why it wasn't displaying as you would like. The reason I had selected the "Garage" link approach in postbit was because the post was already "owned" by the user so I felt that using the user's name next to the link so that it would look like "Mark's Garage" would be redundant. Also, since we found that there are often long usernames on sites we didn't want to create a visual problem with rendering a long username inside of the postbit since it was already displayed once.
Hope this helps shed a little light on the reason behind the madness :D
Best regards,
Mark

We chose to not develop commenting and reviews since we wanted to gather site owner requirements for these features. As you can imagine these features could easily be abused by members/visitors by way of artificially driving up/down a garage rating, inappropriate comments relative to your site guidelines, etc. Given this I wanted to gather input on how owners would like to see these features managed and calculated (ratings) so that they minimize admin monitoring and provide something useful to the members.
As for the SQL error are you still receiving these? It looks like the above might have been displayed in rendering a Garage pop-up menu.
Thanks!

I'm getting the following dB error after I applied the postbit fix. It goes away when I disable DTO Garage.
Database error in vBulletin 3.8.2:
Invalid SQL:

MySQL Error : You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'AND display='1'' at line 1

Edit: I re-imported the original XML file and DTO garage works without the dB error. But there is no garage link in the postbit.
Can you send me a PM with the URL where this error is being created? Obviously in my haste to provide a garage link plugin fix I missed something when trying to code this from a campground in Colorado :)

should i get a blank page for this page?
http://www.grandprixforums.net/dto_garage.php?do=viewgarage
Yes. If there is no garage id specified there is nothing for the viewgarage state to display.
How are you running into this issue? Is this a link in one of your pop-up menus found in a postbit?
Thanks!

Crap, my server doesn't have php 5.0 or MySQL 5.0 installed. Any chance of increased compatability with older versions (4.0?) in the near future? I guess I'll have to start bugging my web host to upgrade his servers since we're on first name basis, lol.
Since our ShowCase and Vendor Tools products are heavily built on object-oriented technology our functionality requires features only found PHP 5. Also, since many hosts have already migrated to PHP5 and MySQL 5 we have done all our testing against those versions as well as vB 3.6.X through vB 3.8.X.
I will say that, while not tested, our Clubs, Garage, and Garage Plus products should work with PHP 4.X and MySQL 4.X. I can't guarantee them to operate on these versions but there aren't technical dependencies on 5.X versions of these. The only thing preventing installation is the dependencies specified in the product.xml during product install.
How many of you are still on PHP4 and MySQL 4.X? Also, do you know what your host's upgrade plans are for these or are you on a dedicated box where upgrades to these components are not mandated?
Thanks!

You shouldn't but I get a blank page as well. I tried it on two different servers.
Can you tell me where this is being encountered? There is no garage id specified when the viewgarage state is being called. Since there is no id the software has no idea what it needs to display so no page is rendered.
Thanks for any information you can share so I can assist in resolving this issue for you!

I've PMd you back with additional information. In the meantime restoring the original product XML will reinstall the original postbit plugin that is preventing the link from being displayed but you won't receive any SQL errors.
I'll work with you to determine the cause of the SQL error when the plugin patch is installed and then post an update of the patch and package to this thread when we have the issue resolved.

That is correct. In my testing of the new plugin I did not encounter this bug so there is some type of issue with different site configurations. Before you reimport can you send me a screen capture of a thread where you are seeing the MySQL errors. If you could provide a capture (or multiple captures) of the entire thread that would be most helpful in debugging and resolving this issue.
To reload the old plugin just reinstall the original product xml file using the overwrite option. Make sure that this option is used otherwise you will not be able to reload the plugin. Please do not uninstall and then reinstall the product as it will remove all the data you may have entered in your Garages.
Please note that by reinstalling the original product xml you will not see the garage link in the postbit until we resolve this issue. You will, however, be able to use the manage garage functions found in UserCP.

Raptor, can you PM me with some additional information? I've been unable to reproduce the problem on our local test machine using vb 3.8.3 so I suspect it may be related to usergroup permissions and/or an issue we identified some time ago that is related to certain versions of vBSEO. If you could provide the following information via PM it will likely help to quickly diagnose the issue and provide a fix.
URL of a thread where this is happening on your site
Are there are any errors shown when rendering the page?
If not are the errors just being delivered via email?
For the users in the above thread - are there any usergroup or permissions differences between the users
Are you using vBSEO and if so what version?
Thanks for your assistance!

For those that are experiencing the SQL error after installing the plugin-patch posted can you tell me what version of vBSEO you are using?
In looking at oly51's information he was running vBEO 3.2 which has a problem in one of its plugins that prevents a vBulletin variable (userinfo) from being shared with postbit plugins. This is an issue I identified some time ago and worked with the vBSEO team to resolve.
Here is a description of the problem (http://www.drivethruonline.com/support/f28/garage-plus-postbit-links-when-using-vbulletin-seo-3-2-3-3-release-candidates-71/#post63) and how to resolve it if you are using versions of vBSEO earlier than 3.3.0 Gold. Please note that the issue was fixed in 3.3.0 Gold but exists in all 3.3.0 release candidates and previous versions.

Can you check the vBSEO plugin called "vBSEO Precache Postbits" and see if the following code is present?
global $vbseo_gcache;
$vbseo_gcache['user'][$post['userid']] = array(
'userid'=>$post['userid'],
'username'=>$post['username']
);
If it is then let me know and we'll need to figure out a way to debug this issue. I've been unable to reproduce this issue myself and suspect that if it isn't the vBSEO issue that I'm aware of that it is related to usergroups that the users belong to? At a minimum the error being thrown indicates that $userinfo is being overwritten or not set up correctly thereby preventing the userid of the post owner from being passed to our code correctly.
Thanks!

The Mysql error is back. I reverted back to the original XML and they went away.
One common thing I noticed in two of the threads the error came from was that they contained a post by a "guest" who is not listed in any usergroup.

OK...this was the information I was looking for and does not have user information associated with it. I can resolve this fairly easily.
Question though...why are guest's allowed to post without registering on the site? It seems this would result in massive amounts of spamming and not a configuration that I've ever run into before.
Thanks again for the missing piece of the puzzle. Please note that while I can resolve this issue the issues relative to vBSEO prior to 3.3.0 Gold will still prevent the garage link from displaying.
Let me work up a patch and I'll get that uploaded as soon as possible.

Mark - I applied the fix you forwarded and it cleared up the MySQL error. The garage link is showing in the postbit.
It is an unusual situation. Guests cannot post on my forums but there are a couple of old threads where the posters user info did not transfer when I migrated to vB and they showed up as a "guest". The search spiders must have picked them up.
Thanks for your help and quick responses.

is everything stored locally within VBulletin database and server?
meaning, the garage info/images are not stored outside of the webserver itself?

The garage info is stored in rows added to your current DB.
The images are stored down the /images/dto_garage/users/ path.
mferguson
07-01-2009, 11:54 PM
To be more precise our products add additional tables, needed for our products, into the current database that is used for vBulletin. These are added during the product file installation and removed if the product are uninstalled.
As for images they are stored in URL accessible directories under your forum installation.
We do not store any data or files, such as images, on other servers. The only exception being our help documentation which is managed and served from our servers so that we can easily update it and tie it to product versions easily.
Hope that helps!

Should i have some garage links in postbit or postbit legacy? Cause i don't!

Thanx for this great mod!

I'm not sure I fully understand what you mean by a conflict with UserCP icons. You should see the following when viewing UserCP as a user that is logged in:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/07/51.png
If for some reason you do not see this be sure to double check the installation information in our documentation.
As for the postbit link be sure to view this post (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1837795&postcount=74) as there was an issue identified and a patch has been provided. This should insure that when viewing threads the postbit should display a link similar to the following:

Please note that the above is shown using postbit_legacy. Using postbit should display as follows:

No. The issue with the postbit link was resolved with an updated plugin that I mentioned in the previous page of posts. The issue with the insert SQL error was an issue that was resolved last week with an update to the file dto_garage.php. This file was included in package that is attached to the opening post in this thread.
To insure you are running the most current versions do the following:
download the installation package from the master post in this thread
extract all the files from the package
copy ONLY the file Upload/dto_garage.php to your forums directory
Follow the directions in this post (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1837795&postcount=74) to download and install the plugin update
Once you have done the above and verified that everything is working correctly please reply to this thread of contact me via PM. If I can get that I will repackage everything so that we have one package with all the patches.

The copyright it should normally appear at the bottom of the page near your vBa and vBSEO copyrights. If you can contact me via PM I'll be happy to work with you to get this resolved.
Our paid version also includes the copyright. We wanted to roll out the product, get people using it, and, based on feedback, determine what other features should be included. If there is sufficient demand for a branding free version we'll definitely consider offering that as an additional option for our products.

We are just launching our products so the current copyright will help build search engine relevance for our company and products insuring that we can develop enough sales to continue developing our current products and add additional plugins in the future. Given that this is a free version I would request that the copyright be preserved.
In the future, if there is demand, we will offer branding free options for our paid products.

Its a simple upgrade and all of your data is preserved. The only thing you need to do after upgrading is set up usergroup permissions pertaining to which groups have garages and how many garages are included for each usergroup.
Let me know if you have any additional questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

This error is caused by "Guest" posts in threads when we were attempting to build the postbit. I've resolved this for a couple of members with a patch and will be releasing Garage 1.1.1 hopefully later today after we've run in through our testing process. This release will resolve the issues found with the first public release. When ready I'll update this thread and send out a notification to everyone who has it marked installed.
Thanks!

We've just updated this thread to include the 1.1.1 release of DTO Garage. Be sure to upgrade to the new version using the information in the initial post in this thread and our online product documentation (http://www.drivethruonline.com/help/) for 1.1.1.
I'll also send out an update notification to all those that have this installed.

It would be very cool if a very small set of thumbnails say 45x30 could be included per vehicle in the garage in the postbit. The area would be very small but the images still enticing to garner clicks.

With DTO Garage there would only be one image displayed so it would probably be doable. For Garage Plus it would really depend on how many garages per usergroup were allowed. Since there isn't an upper limit on what is support this could cause layout problems. Thoughts on how this might be displayed and where in the postbit versus postbit_legacy?
Also, in Garage Plus the navbar menu includes browse and search options which make all garages a bit more prominent to all those visiting the site.

Can you provide a step by step on how you encounter this issue? If you are just clicking on an Add Image link and immediately getting a white page do you have the vBulletin Option Use 'vBMenu' DHTML Popup Menus? set to Yes? This option is found under Style & Language Settings.

How soon can we see a widget that allows us to present random "Garage Images" on our sites to our choosing? Something similar to "All Albums"?

Tell me what you are thinking about and how you would like it to work if provided. Would this be in the context of a vBadvanced module or would it be something that wouldn't require vBadvanced. If the latter, be sure to include where you would want to see this display shown, how many images you would like to see, size of images, and any other controls you can think of.
Thanks for the feedback!

Hello, first I want to say that this is a great add-on for our swedish mini cooper forum. Im testing it right now and want to evaluate it some more before buying the plus version.
Back to the subject, I would love to see this as well... for me an vBadvanced module would be prefered. I am using the "vBAdvanced Module: Latest Album Pictures" right now that does the same thing but for the album pictures.
Translation is also high on the priority list for me, but you are working on this I have seen.

Interesting. My business originally got started back in 2002 also for the MINI. I built and ran NorthAmericanMotoring.com before selling it in early 2008. All of the products we've been working on spawned out of the things I needed to grow that site but there weren't solutions for.
I'm very familiar with vBadvanced and have done a lot of development with it over the years. I've already been playing with a prototype of a random garage module on my machine and have figured out how to implement settings for it that the site owner can easily manage. I'm currently planning to include this in the next release of Garage Plus sometime in the August timeframe. If you upgrade to Garage Plus let me know if you would be interested in Beta testing this when I have the module ready.

For the paid version there are several sites that are now running it. The paid version has additional features like browse, search, usergroup permissions for garages (access and number), and support for vBSEO but it will give you an idea of what it is like. Take a look at http:www.truestreetcars.com and click on Garage in the header (Note: this is NOT one of our sites).
As for the current release of the free version it is only about 80% phrased meaning that not all language elements are handled in the phrasing system. There are some items in the templates and a few being generated by code. That said you do have the ability to customize section headings and some other basic information directly from the Garage vBulletin Options settings. It is our plan to release a fully phrased version (along with some new features) of the paid version in the August time frame.
While you could heavily modify Garage/Garage Plus to support your need we actually have another product that would likely meet your needs more easily. PM me and I can provide information on that as well as arrange a demo.

As an administrator the ability to modify or delete another user's garage is something that we have slated for an upcoming release of the Garage Plus (paid) version. I expect this release to be available in the month of August. This release will also support additional translation for selected languages. I just took a quick look at your site and looked at your postbit entries and they appear to be working correctly since I do not see repeated entries. As for the user profile display it should have an image shown to the left of your vehicle name. Given that you likely modified the templates and/or code to support your postbit needs I suspect that the display has been broken in some way since we use the same code to display in both areas.
If you would like any type of additional support please mark this mod as installed.

In the free version of Garage everyone, except for guests and banned members, have one garage each. There is no means included to limit them.
In the Garage Plus (http://www.drivethruonline.com/products/dto_garageplus.php) (paid) version of the product you have usergroup level permissions allowing certain usergroups to have garages and to specify how many they have access to. Plus also contains browse and search interfaces, vBSEO add-ons, plus a number of other features.
If you have additional questions feel free to PM me.

It would've been nice if it was possible to integrate something like (Photo Popup - Insert pictures easily from vB Albums, Photopost, vBGallery, Photoplog) (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=202385) for image attach purposes. You know where you are able to piggyback on whatever software you have installed. That keeps images central. Bit just a penny..

Thanks for the feedback. The reason that we didn't use other products/plugins is because we didn't want to depend on specific versions of other products to operate properly. Given that we have a testing and release process adding additional dependencies would further complicate an already complex testing matrix. For example we test against three major releases of vBulletin (vB 3.6, 3.7, and 3.8) and, in one package, address any differences in the vB versions.
All of the above said we do appreciate the feeback and I would encourage everyone using this modification to post your suggestions, new features, and requests so we can continue to improve this and our other products.

Twice I have added a response here tonight regarding the exact same opinion. Since it is quite obvious that the intent of this is to promote a "paid" version then speak up and say so. Don't hedge around the topic but own up to what it is. If this is useful then members will more than likely pay. For those of us that test the code it is an insult. I suppose this is the path VB is going down more these days so I am not surprised...

I know what you mean and I understand where you are coming from.
It is not a big issue if the functionality is not there I was just thinking that people like Photopost have been around forver and giving site admins the option in the admin panel if they want to use/integrate their Garage software they can. Even the vBulletin album included would've been nice.
At least Garage doesn't just link to images on other sites which I find the biggest pain on any site.

Understood. I've used Photopost on sites that I've developed and I understand the need for a single image store on a site so that in the future you don't have to manage yet another product, migrate it to something new, etc.
If we were to consider adding support to use the vBulletin album functionality as the image store do you have any thoughts on how the permissions associated with the current album settings by usergroup should be handled? Right now, in our plugin, we allow approximately 20-22 images to be uploaded for one garage. In Garage Plus you can specify any number of garages per usergroup. With this in mind if the admin had not allowed for sufficient space in the vBulletin gallery but you had additional garages left what type of feedback should the user receive? Should it prevent additional garages from being created or should it just prevent new images from being uploaded?
Also, if using the vBulletin album store would it be ideal that the user already have the images he/she wanted in their albums and select those for use in their garage or, when creating a garage, allow the user to load new images and have those go into a given album? If the latter would the user want the ability to choose which album (or create a new album) to have the images placed into.
We're open to giving this consideration but we'll need to model the use cases carefully to make sure this would continue to be easy to use.
Thanks again for the feedbackk :up:

Sure. This isn't supported out of the box so I put together some plugin code to support this. Just replace the contents of the DTO Garage Postbit Pop-up Menu plugin with the code below, save, and you will have a single link in the postbit that will take you to that user's garage.
Note: The link won't be display if the user has no garage entry or the garage setting "Allow others to view this vehicle" is set to no.
global $pm, $threadpm;
$show['dto_garage_has_vehicles'] = false;
$usepostid = false;
$doable = false;
// If this is a private message postbit draw then retrieve the userinfo of the user that the PM is from
if (THIS_SCRIPT == 'private') {
if ($_REQUEST['do']!= 'showhistory')
{
$userinfo = fetch_userinfo($pm['fromuserid']);
$doable = true;
}
}
else if ((THIS_SCRIPT == 'showpost' || THIS_SCRIPT == 'showthread') && $post['visible'] != 2)
{
$usepostid = true;
// Get the poster's userinfo
$userinfo = fetch_userinfo($post['userid']);
$doable = true;
}
if($doable && !empty($userinfo))
{
global $db;
$userID = $userinfo['userid'];
$vehicle = $db->query_first("SELECT * FROM " .
TABLE_PREFIX . "DTO_garage_vehicle WHERE userid = ". $userID . " AND display='1'");
$content = '';
if($vehicle)
{
$vehicle_id = $vehicle['vehicle_id'];
$content = "<a target=\"_dto\" href=\"dto_garage.php?do=viewvehicle&vehicle_id=$vehicle_ id\">Garage</a>";
}
$template_hook[postbit_userinfo_right] .= $content;
}

This sounds like a great thing, integrating it with the vBulletin album store.
My thoughts on the questions you have(they can change if someone come up with better one's :)):
"the permissions associated with the current album settings by usergroup"
I think that when you reach vbulletin gallery max a message to the user that the maximum number of images is reached and that he should contact admin if he feels its wrong, or something like that. It should not prevent the creation of new garages, only new images from being uploaded.
"Also, if using the vBulletin album store would it be ideal that the user already have the images he/she wanted in their albums and select those for use in their garage or, when creating a garage, allow the user to load new images and have those go into a given album? If the latter would the user want the ability to choose which album (or create a new album) to have the images placed into."
I think it should go both ways, if the image exist in some album it should be possible to choose that one, but also the user should be able to upload new images through the garage and be able to either put it in a currently existing album or create a new one.

Another thing that would be great is to have some sort of blog function for each garage where you can blog about new things you have done to the car or adventures you have taken with it. And be able to upload images to that specific blog. I guess that gives us the same dilemma as my previous post about picture integration with vb gallery store. But im not sure if you should be limited by the vb gallery max images here. A max number of images/blog is enough i think. So im not sure if integrating it with vb gallery store is such a good idea after all. Maybe it could be solved somehow.
But a blog feature for the garages would be nice however you solve the picture thing :).
What do you think, something that could be done?

Thanks for this mod.
I just installed the free version and created a garage.
Every thing seems to be working so far except for the "Garage" link in the navbar.
If I click it, the pull-down works but only the help link is active. Is this because it is the free version? Or is the Garage link supposed to work?
Thanks,

In Garage Plus you'll see additional browse and search options under the menu. In the free version only the help link is displayed. The Garage text is just a title of the drop down menu and does not link to anything.

When using the "URL to Image" option to add an image to a garage it actually pulls the image defined by the URL, resizes, and saves the actual image into your site. This way it insures that the image doesn't go away at the remote location and breaks an image in your garage. Given this make sure that you enter the full URL to an image. For example to use an image that is hosted on Photobucket you have to do a little digging for the full URL of an image:
1) Here is a page containing an image (http://media.photobucket.com/image/bmw%20gs1200/jo3ruff/BMW_R1200GS_Adventure_st4pz.jpg)
2) Right click on the image and select the option to view the image in its own window
3) Right click on the image to copy its URL to your clipboard (or copy it from your browser's address bar). In this case the URL is http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w236/jo3ruff/BMW_R1200GS_Adventure_st4pz.jpg
Note: the URL in #3 is similar to that in #2 but one displays surrounding page content while the other does not. If you were to use the URL in #2 in the URL to Image field you would get a white page - a bug that I'll address in our next release since it should error gracefully.
4) Paste the URL into the "URL to Image" field when adding an image in your garage.
5) Add a caption and click upload.
This should retrieve the image from the remote server, resize it if needed, and save it on your site's server.
If something else is occurring and causing a white page please PM me with the steps needed reproduce the problem along with the URL you are entering in the "URL to Image" field.
Thanks!

Rich,
I believe all you need to do is edit the dto_garage_navbar template for your style. In that template change:
<td class="vbmenu_control">
to
<td>
If that doesn't work please let me know and I'll work with you to figure out how to make it work with your style.
Thanks!
Mark
PS - I never heard back from you regarding my last PM on your configuration. If you get a few minutes please send that over via PM or the email address I provided in my message and I'll try to reproduce determine the difference in your configuration and the one we are running here.

I found a bug:

Ihr Seitenaufruf konnte nicht verarbeitet werden, da das Securitytoken nicht mehr g?ltig war.

Is this something that happens every time you attempt to answer a private message or something that only happened once? From the message, translating the german to english, it looks like there is mention of a security token (ie - the vbulletin cookie) may have been out of date and caused one of our functions to fail. If you can reproduce this can you provide the steps you take to cause the error? This information would help us try to reproduce the problem.
Thanks!

As I've mentioned earlier the breadcrumb link was not intended to be a link and is therefore a bug we will be addressing in an August update. In the meantime I can easily deliver a patch for this issue for those that have run into it.
In the Garage Plus update in August we are planning to include a index page similar to what you may see with a product like Photopost. It would include random garages, most recently updated, etc. and would be viewed when clicking on the Garage breadcrumb link mentioned above.
For those that haven't already joined our support forum and downloaded Garage from our site I would encourage you to join. The reason being is that we have started discussions in our support forums with Garage and Garage Plus customers regarding what we have planned in the next releases and gathering input from customers on features they would like see added. As we develop vBulletin products full-time its important to gather this input so we can improve the products to meet the needs of our users.
Best regards,
Mark

This sounds like an issue where the all the files/directories in the upload directory didn't make it into the forum root directory. All the steps should of installation and use should be covered in our online help. Access to the online help can be found in the package's readme.html file and also via our site at http://www.drivethruonline.com/help

In the Plus (http://www.drivethruonline.com/products/dto_garageplus.php) version you'll find browse and search functions listed in the drop down list. In the free version only help is included. If you wish to hide this from your users just disable the Garage navbar plugin.
As for the garage link in the breadcrumb (navbits) that is something we'll be updating in the next version. We don't currently have an "index" page that shows things like random garages, most viewed, etc. so we'll be adding one. Right now the emphasis was to provide a UserCP manner of creating/managing your personal garage and providing access to it by other users when viewing your user profile or via the link in your posts.
While we're working on the next version (likely available early September) I could provide an interim release that would simply provide a basic landing page with a random selection of garages displayed. Let me know if this would be something of interest.
Also, I've developed vBadvanced modules for Garage and Garage Plus that will provide random garages, statistics, and featured garage functionality that I will be releasing as a separate mod near the weekend.
Thanks!

Are you on a shared hosting box? If so, this indicates that you've run out of memory when trying to process an image you uploaded into Garage. Usually, on a shared box, you can specify a custom php.ini for your directories to run with. You would want to tweak the following:
memory_limit
upload_max_filesize (optional)
max_execution_time (optional)
Since all hosting companies offer different ways to handle this be sure to check with them before doing anything. For memory_limit most hosts have this set as small as 8M. I would recommend at least 32M or more if your host will support it.

I would love to use this but there is only an option for "Help" under the Garage navbar menu. I also manually added the info into USERCP_SHELL to be able to access the garage from User CP.
Can you let me know how to fix this problem? How do I view the overall garage?
mferguson
08-20-2009, 08:21 PM
Help is the only option shown in the free version of Garage. If you purchase a copy of Garage Plus this menu will include browse and search functions in addition to help.
As for the User CP shell modification you mention I'm not sure I understand what you are attempting to do. For a garage owner you should already have options to manage and add a garage entry under when using User CP.
Also, what do you mean by overall garage? If you are asking where are garage entries displayed they are found in the following places:
- if a user has created a garage entry and it is visible to other site members a "Garage" link will be shown in the postbit for that user. Clicking on that link will display a pop-up menu where you can select the garage to display. When clicked on a new page should open displaying that user's complete garage.
- in the user profile for each user having a garage entry (and its visible) there will be an additional tab in the profile called Garage. If selected you will see a thumbnail of the vehicle and its name.
As I just completed a video demo of Garage Plus I would recommend taking a look at the video as it explains a lot of the functionality offered in Garage Plus and I also note what features are not available in the free version. Click here to check out the video (http://www.drivethruonline.com/demos/#garageplus).
Also, I noted above that I will be providing a random garage index page in an update I hope to release tomorrow morning. This will provide another way of browsing garages that have been entered on your site. In our next major release we're planning a more interesting index page with random garages, most viewed, featured, stats, etc along with being fully phrased so it can be adapted for different languages. This will be available around mid-September.

You can already do this by viewing the vBulletin Options for DTO Garage. You can change most of the section and subsection titles to support whatever you need.
That said the product was intended to mainly address the needs of motor-related interests. For more flexibility in modeling all types of information, sharing it, etc. we developed another product, ShowCase, that addresses those types of needs.

Thanks for finding this. Let me look into this and see how to address this. I know its due to the ajax posting of the reply and the postbit processor not getting called. Regardless I'll follow up and see if this is something I can get addressed quickly and into the release we were planning for today.

Since you would need the id of the garage I'll need to look at how this might need to be handled. Would you want this as a stand-alone link for the navbar or integrate a "My Garage" link in the Garage drop down. With the new random garage index page in the coming release I've added a Garages link to the Garage drop down menu so if you added this option here you would have three options in the Garage link. My Garage, if selected would take you to the Manage Garage UI.

Thanks for the information. I think we're likely to upgrade, more so when this functionality included. Also is the feature there now in the plus version (or planned for the near future if not) to apply different levels of access to users based on additional usergroups? I'd like to specifiy a level of access for all registered users, but apply different settings (perhaps extra/customisable fields, image quota (number and max size) etc. to registered users who are also in one of a number of additional usergroups.
Also, I'm not sure whether this is a problem with my install, or a general glitch/bug; but if when viewing a garage/spot, you click 'Garage' in the link tree at the top of the page (link points to <forumhome>/dto_garage.php?do=viewgarage) I just get a blank page.
And finally - :) - Not that I'm considering uninstalling any time soon(!) - but does the uninstall code remove any template-edits that happened when I imported the product .xml ? It did it all lightning fast and I wasn't prepared for quick changes!
Thanks again for a great Mod...

I like the mod but just wanted to point out I think the credit in the footer that embeds itself throughout every page including your vBa CMPS is a bit excessive, I think with it being offered free here it should only be on pages that show the garage etc. It just makes the footer look sloppy and no one even knows what it is until they go into the garage regardless.
Just my 2 cents but uninstalling due to that, I have no problem giving credit where it's due, check my mods and you'll see that but modifying the code to go site wide again imo is too much. (And yes I completely understand why you did this but again that was just IMO)

Thanks for the information. I think we're likely to upgrade, more so when this functionality included.
This will be coming in Garage Plus 1.2 that we have slated for release in mid-late September. We're finalizing requirements this week but this is on the list.
This is not something that we have planned since our ShowCase product offers these types of features already.

This was a side effect of using the breadcrumb path and not having a "index" page for Garage/Garage Plus. In the release we'll be doing today of Garage we'll be including a index page showing random garages. With this the garage link in the breadcrumb will take you to the "index" page and also has allowed us to get rid of the need to open windows to show the garages.
And finally - :) - Not that I'm considering uninstalling any time soon(!) - but does the uninstall code remove any template-edits that happened when I imported the product .xml ? It did it all lightning fast and I wasn't prepared for quick changes!
It should not. When you upgrade to a new version though you should check to insure that template updates we've made are being used. I know with the release coming this afternoon there are a few template changes. To check for template changes after you upgrade:
1) AdminCP >> Styles & Templates
2) Find Updated Templates
EDIT: No, I did think of something else - would it be easy enough for me to make links to garage open in the same window?
As mentioned above this will be resolved with the release later today.

If you look at the version history I have a note regarding the online documentation. Since this is an interim release prior to the 1.2 release scheduled for later in September help has not been updated to reflect the upgrade process or new features included in this version.
Because of a couple of bugs members have found in the last couple of days I wanted to put out this build, add a couple of features to gain additional feedback, and then focus on development of 1.2.0.
I'm assuming we dont have to upload the files again, just import the XML?
I would upload files as well. There is at least one file-based fix that is in this release.

In the event you missed the version history here is a list of the changes in this release (1.1.2):
New Features
Garage index page - index page accessible from breadcrumb when viewing a members garage. Displays a random selection of up to 25 member garages.
Navbar menu - Added "My Garage" link when user is logged in
Navbar menu - Added "Garages" to take user to garage index page
With a garage index page member garages are no longer display in a new browser window (the only exception is if you preview your own garage when managing it).
Fixes
Users currently not logged in are prevented from managing or adding a garage.
When using quick reply the Garage link is shown in the user's postbit given that the user has a visible garage configured.

I would upload files as well. There is at least one file-based fix that is in this release.
Thanks!

Good. Let me know if you find any issues or have questions that the online help doesn't address.
Thanks!

This update is only for the free version right and doesn't affect us with plus version?

That is correct.
We are working on updates to the paid version. We expect it will be a few weeks to work these in and test between our other commitments.

I'll add that if you are a Plus customer be sure to visit the Garage product support forums on our site (after logging in) as we have some discussions going on relative to product features in the next release. After some additional product discussions this weekend I hope to post the list of improvements for this upcoming release sometime next week.
Thanks!

If you will Mark as Installed (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/vborg_miscactions.php?do=installhack&threadid=216529) I would be happy to help you get this resolved.
Once clicked PM me with a link to your site that demonstrates the problem and I will take a look to see what is causing this.
Thanks!

I've searched and tried and wasnt successful in either. How can I change the 'Garage' text link to the menu in the user postbit to an icon? Thanks.

If you edit the "dto_garage_popup_menu" template look for the following:
<if condition="$use_username_in_link">
<phrase 1="$userinfo[username]">$vbphrase[xs_garage] </phrase>
<else />
Garage
</if>
</a>
and change to
<if condition="$use_username_in_link">
<phrase 1="$userinfo[username]">$vbphrase[xs_garage] </phrase>
<else />
<!-- Garage -->
<img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/your-icon-name.gif">
</if>
</a>
That should present the icon where the Garage link would normally appear in the postbit.
