I was wondering, how many of you site owners use the Social Group feature?
I have had 3.7 and 3.8 for quite a while and have it turned off, I just can't find a reason to use them.

We have a few, they're turned on, never prove useful. Sometimes we'll create one, and it'll make sense, but no one remembers to look at them

One of the most unnecessary myspace clone features introduced to vBulletin..
I'd never have a use for that, forum members rarely visit each others profiles when compared to a social networking site.. It really shouldn't have the focus that it currently has. vB really should have just stayed a forum, if you ask me.

Exact same topic as vBulletin.com much? I use it, kind of, in that I just leave what's on by default active unless I feel like disabling it. It's fairly well used, at least from my experience.
(To the people who want vBulletin to only be a forum, someone said it perfectly at .com, the tagline was Instant COMMUNITY, not Instant FORUM).

We use the Social Group feature. Some groups die out pretty fast but others are very active and are used a lot.
We like the option :)

Same with us. They are on, but some just never take off and some have several members/messages. We have a Lounge for general discussion and I have found that the groups that were created by members who don't frequent our Lounge actually do better than the others. I think it's cuz the Lounge crew like to talk in the Lounge. The other members like having their own little section to talk.

I use them at the moment, more as a test than anything..
My current member base come from 3 main communities;
vBulletin (vb.com. vb.org, etc.)
Xbox.com
VGN (An old gaming site network)It's quite nice to let these user groups have their own little private discussion area relative to these external sites.
I just had vBulletin installed for my forum, so I haven't gone into this feature yet. However, I have seen it used (and use it myself) on other forums and find it exciting, so I am going to give it a shot for my forum and see how it goes.

it's a thing i would like to use in the future, currently i'm busy with tweaking and improving the forums... not for me personal, but i think there's a group of members that likes that kind of "additions"..

we don't currently use it but it's on my to-do list - interface needs a major overhaul before I launch it to our members

hello,
is there maybe a screenshot or two that I can look at,
to get an idea how a social group works?
I havent used them and I dont know If it would make some sense to use them.
What purpose do you use them for?
(please give example???? )
thank you so much in advance!

We use them, but with each day, I hate them more. They are like the place to send topics that you want to die.
And there is no flexibility.
And they are not searchable.
I pretty much hate them lately.
sorry to be honest.
