Reported posts - mark as read if deleted?

All moderators at my forum read the Reported Posts forum.

But we cant figure out a solution for this problem..

Say one moderator deals with a reported post ...

..its still remains in the Reported Posts forum as a task to do.

Is there a way to Mark Threads As Read if the subject post is - deleted? (therfore dealt with)

Its really a drag to try to attend to a reported post only to find that it has already been dealt with by another moderator...

Even going back to delete the reported post seems like too much finger work on the keyboard..

Is there a slick procedure we can put into action?

Any advice on how to manage this situation..?

Its a busy forum, 10 million page views per month..

Why not have them closed the thread (it would show a locked icon)? Or use prefixes and set it up with a click to change it to DONE or something like that?
