View Full Version : Looking for a simple image uploader that allows access permission by usergroup

I've seen the VBIMageHost Mod which looks great, but it actually offers too much for what I want. I don't want it to be an album type thing attached to member's profiles and more importantly I don't want them to be able to be able to manage i.e. delete what they've uploaded.

We've been running with a very simple uploader (CeleronDude one) that allows any registered member to upload, giving them an [IMG] tag URL to paste into their posts. There is an option to only allow registered users to use the uploader but that's self-contained i.e. not linked to VB so no usergroup permissions.

We have a section where people post up threads on how to do certain procedures related to what the forum is about, and we insist that images should be loaded up to our server and this is where the uploader we use currently is useful as images can be positioned where wished amongst the write-up text - unlike the attachments system where they're just bunged at the end.

So to recap - I'm after an image uploader that loads straight up to our server giving the person the [IMG] URL, or at least the URL, that they can paste into their post. That has permissions (access) based on usergroup and possibly limits the number of images they can upload per day etc. but more importantly once uploaded they have nothing more to do with the image i.e. they can't delete it as that would then leave the thread with the procedure without pics.

Anything around that comes remotely close to what I'm after?

EDIT: Should've said - currently running 3.7

Thanks

Nobody? Does one not exist?

I'm sure I posted this originally in General vBulletin Discussions and just noticed that it's now in Modification Requests (Unpaid).

Can I ask why? I'm not asking for someone to do this mod, I'm asking if one currently exists! I thought that was obvious from...Anything around that comes remotely close to what I'm after?

Could it please be moved back as people will think I'm asking for a Mod to be written, when I'm simply trying to find out if one already exists.

Thanks
