Hi,

I currently have VB installed on my root domain. ( www.mydomain.com )

However we have just got a new homepage made. And we want to move the forum over to a new directory. Which we plan on being /forum

How would I go about doing this. Im sure there is more to it than just dragging the files into the new directory. What would I need to do when doing this?

All help is appreciated.

* Note . We also have vbSEO installed. Will this affect it at all?

Going from memory, you will need to close the forum, change your config.php file, update the entries in VB Options (site URL etc) and the url in vbSEO as well, apart from moving all the files/folders etc.
I would check with the vbSEO guys on what it entails in there too.
You would then be able to install the homepage VB Advanced or what ever portal you plan to use.
Don't forget to back it all up before you start and I would make that a full site backup, not just a DB backup. That way you can put it all back the way it was if things go pear shaped!

Thanks for the reply. What you have suggested seems very logical and I will act upon it as soon as I finish up the finishing touches of my Homepage.

Thanks

this isn't that hard
just change the "url" setting in the vb options, 2nd menu from the top to the new url, save than change move the files via ftp
as for the vbseo, you should open a support ticket over there and let them know, the vbseo will most likely not work unless they change the url in their database
and as always, make a backup if you are worried

Thanks for the help guys.

Ive moved the forum successfully and was a lot easier than I thought. It only took like 2 mins to do.
