I have a question about templates.

Why does vB interfere with what you enter into the templates. By that I mean why can't you put normal PHP straight in there?

That's what plugins are for. Templates are strickly for html - plugins are for php. If you want the reasoning behind why they did it that way, this is the wrong forum to ask at. You should be asking the devs at vb.com
