Ok so since last time i have taken on board all the points people have made on improving the design of my forum/site

the index/homepage is still under construction however, i have spent alot of time re designing the forum. I purchased some quality stock images and i think the results are very good and 1000x better than what it was

I am very happy with the outcome

please take a look, feel free to sign up and also let me know what you think

Ahah! Loving the man with the beer glass. The logo looks good.

The one thing that caught my eye was the soccer ball.... I am lost. I can possibly understad sports but I was expecting the ball to be kicked or moved or something. It just seems so out of place to me.

Loving the new forum icons ecspecially the "eye candy" (can you tell I am a guy?).

Good work on accepting everyones feedback. I can tell you right now, you are heading in the right direction.

Yea hover over your soccer image & read the text ^_^ "Description of image".

Still though.... Soccer just doesn't say "manly" to me. Why not do a cool montage or an elongated bar image with maybe a deer head on the wall & a large burly man with a beard?

That would be awesome =)

Get rid of the Soccer ball. You do not need to put any image there. If you do, put some hot chicks and cars. ;)

Looks much better than before.

why?^

You wont get indexed by search engines for one. Also people like to see what they are signing up for. I am not saying all forums...if you have nudity or anything but general talk forums and just regular forums unlock them or at least let people read the first post.

Agreed. I think I don't sign up for 2/3 forums that I can't actually see (unless I am 100% sure I know what it is).

As stated above, the only reason you should be locking threads/sections is because the material should only be seen after registration.

No harm in showing announcements & general chat to guests. Also, as stated above, the spiders can't index blocked information. People searching for your exact content will never see you unless they are handed the link & told "go here".

NSFW = Not Safe For Work.

On the index alone I see 2 statusicons with breasts ;)

Postbit.. looks like a postbit you'd find in one of miners styles.. looks good though, nice and neat.

ManlyStuff.com and you Guys think big hooters on the forum icons are surprising? Hmmm... Anyway...
I agree - the postbit is nice & neat - nothing special about it though... The offline status icon should not be animated. Online animation is nice as its a literal translation of online status - but offline should be unanimated.

I see different sections "Contact Information" and/or "Gaming Information" if any highscores have been won. You might actually be interested in DJ's Dynamic Tab Content for Postbit_Legacy (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=184136) for a more intricate type of postbit styling. You can see a nice example of it at The Journey (http://wlsjourney.org/community-forums/journey-community/journey-forum-policies/1-journey-posting-policy-new-post.html).

Anyway - nice css styling - but it's pretty plain as everyone else has stated.

Jacquii.

BTW - the user_online.gif animation is tacky and needs to be redesigned: http://manlystuff.com/forum/images/user_online.gif
Very bad...

Haven't read the reviews posted in here but your postbit looks like any other postbit_legacy I've seen. Apart from the images being incorrectly matted, the annoying marquee. It looks like an average postbit to me.

What is the favorite sports team in the postbit? How did you set that up?

The link needs to be marked "Not Safe For Work" - the page contains keywords that could throw up a red flag with employers. This is especially true if companies have some way to check the sites their employees visit.

There is no nudity on the homepage, but it does have a lot of text that says its an adult site. And as such, the link needs to be tagged NSFW.

What is the status feed? Perhaps only show it to members if it is a community thing?

I would loose the donate button to guests - not another website looking for money

I like the colours and the forum icons - clean and simple

Connect box is good

Overall - I like it

Good job.

Your page has a vertical scrollbar no matter what resolution the page is viewed with. That is rather annoying. I am guessing it is caused by your footer since it is the only thing to stretch the entire width or you have a margin and a width set on the main content making it larger then the visible screen no matter what..

imk
09-04-2009, 09:11 PM
yeah i'll have to sort that one

apart from that?

RTMdotORG
09-04-2009, 10:04 PM
Yeah your webpage on my end is rather wide....
I have to scroll to see the entire site...
Nice site concept and name, the status icons hurt my eyes though, they seem to be a bit blurry.... you may also want to think about adding a default avatar for users without them so it doesn't just have text saying user avatar...IMO
Overall I like the site, good job...
