When I install a skin sometimes they work and sometimes they partly do. When it doesn't work, the header is blank. For example, the whole style is all correct with images and stuff but the header has nothing and no images. I can't seem to find the solution.

Usually that is because the path to the header is incorrect. Check your page source and see where it is looking for the image and then enter that image url into the browser and see what comes up.

And while you're in there make sure the rest of the paths point to where the folders and images are. Most of these themes/skins are made on test systems and have paths that worked there but not on your setup. You can snarf the path when you FTP your files up to your host.
Something like:http://www.yourforumname.com/forums/images/styles/themefolder/misc
It's long winded but it's a direct bullseye to the files.
