Hi all.
I recently converted from SMF to vBulletin.
Since converting, none of my users' passwords work... So, as suggested in the vB manual, I sent out a couple mass emails requesting that members re-set their passwords: http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/impex_passwords
A large percentage of my members tried to re-set... but none were able to.
I, a non-admin account, attempted to re-set my password... Nothing doing.
Since, I've had to manually re-set each member who emailed me requesting it.
A number of them didn't bother to email me.
It's been a frustrating issue to be honest.
Does anyone know how I can possibly rectify this situation?
Thanks.

The best place to ask questions about impex related problems is over in the impex forum at vb.com.
Also, simply saying is didn't work or 'nothing doing' doesn't tell me a thing about the problem.

Fair enough.
re: "nothing doing."
Nothing at all happened.
There was no email sent out with a password re-set.
Subsequently, as mentioned above, none of my users were able to re-set their passwords.
It wasn't a case of the email being caught in the spam filters either... as I have, as mentioned above, attempted to utilize the script as well.

So no email was ever sent out for anyone? That sounds like an email problem, not a problem with the password resetting.
Will vbulletin send out *any* emails?
Go to admin cp > maintenance > diagnostics > email and run that test. What is the result?

There is no issue with the sending of emails.
As stated above:
Since converting, none of my users' passwords work... So, as suggested in the vB manual, I sent out a couple mass emails requesting that members re-set their passwords: http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/impex_passwords
Members got the emails and attempted to re-set as directed.
They submit the information required and awaited the password re-set...which never came.
Go to admin cp > maintenance > diagnostics > email and run that test. What is the result?
Results:
"No errors were returned while attempting to send the email. Check ****@*******.net shortly to confirm you've received the email. If you don't receive the email, try sending the test to a different address. If that fails, check your mail server's configuration."
I received the following email:
"You are receiving this email because your email address was entered as an email test at NarkSide Nutrition.
The first step of this email test script has been completed. However, a formatting test is still necessary:
A paragraph break.
A single line break.
Another paragraph break.
Another single line break.
Another single line break.
If the above lines look correct, you are finished. The email features on your server are setup correctly.
If this email is run together on one line, there is possibly a configuration error with your mail server. Please ensure it is configured correctly. "
So, as stated above... there is no problem with the sending of emails.
The lost-password script however, isn't working as it should.

So, you get the first email saying 'click this link' but you don't get a second email with the changed email? Did you make sure the link in the email was valid?

Yes. No second email with the changed log-in.
Did you make sure the link in the email was valid?
Yes.

Have you looked at your error_logs to see if anything is in there (if you don't know where they are, ask your host)? You may want to put in a support ticket - Support Ticket System (http://members.vbulletin.com/membersupport_contactform.php)

I checked my error logs.
In fact, I'm in my site's cPanel right now.
No errors related to the script.

I guess I'll have to resort to that.
Thanks however.
