Since I have been unable to control new users joining my site and spamming I have taken to asking users to send me an email and then I try to add them manually. So far this has not worked. Running 3.6.1. I go to
Users-> Add New User
I type in a username and a password. I then send them to the new user. But they cannot use the username and password.
Is this because I have my settings not to accept new users? Shouldn't this manual approach override that?
