For a couple of months now, this project (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=1819830#post1819830) has had no developer, no updates, and has needed some fixes.

Understandably, the rule here is no code distribution without author's permission, but what if the author just won't login, won't answer individuals, etc?

This project is a pretty decent project, something that shouldn't be just thrown away here. What would it take for me to get permission to update things, aside from contacting the (missing???) author that doesn't want to reply to emails??

He was last online just one month ago. Sometimes real life happens and users need to take a break. One month is not that long of time to be absent from a board.

But, regardless of the time, you would need the authors permission in order to post an update to the code. It's his and nobody else can give the permission to do anything with it except him.

With all due respect to the original author, the code is a bit messy :) Why not start up your own version of the modification? You don't have to use his code :)

I emailed that Developer today and he got back to me in a few hours! Lol His email is in the install.html document unless he's ignoring you??

I really don't care if he got back with you in a few hours, and honestly, he's not ignoring me at all, but his countless application users.

Go through that thread, you'll see multiple times where individuals have paid him and he has not done the work, or multiple issues brought up by the users that he has ignored.

The project is dead. If he responds off-site, that doesn't mean that the project is alive, it just means that he has chosen not to deal with his project.

I wasnt saying the project is alive, just saying if you want his permission to takeover the project, to simply email him :)

If you want to "fix it" I suggest hiring someone to help YOU directly.

Authors are NOT required to "support" their modifications here or anywhere; they do so because they want to.

Authors sometimes release code here for personal use (testing purposes).
