Subscription Thread
A member asked for this in my other thread on here so I thought I would release it for everyone.
What is Subscription Thread?
Pretty simple, as soon as someone makes a paid subscription, a thread is created in a forum of your choice. This could be in the admin area to let yourself and other moderators know, or in the member forums as a way of saying thank you! (Might also prompt other people to subscribe!)
Features controlled via the ACP
- Thread Title
- Thread Message
- Forum Location
- Post Icon
- Which User Creates Thread
Installation
Import product via ACP
Edit settings via vbulletin options >> Subscription Thread
Although I have marked this as supported im a very new coder. If there are any errors, I will try my best to resolve them, however as being new im still learning the ropes.

One suggestion that I have is to have an option to add the thank you to an existing thread. Otherwise, my forums would be overrun with messages like this.

It should be possible, however im not really in the know when it comes to SQL at the moment. Im presuming it has something to do with
SELECT `userid`
FROM `paymentinfo`
I'll have a look into it.

Thats possible. Im away with work for a few days, but will have a look when I get back.

Not without anymore detail im afraid.
What were your settings in the ACP and what method did they use to subscribe (paypal etc)

created a form for the subscriptions and used my post bot to post
my subscriptions auto renew every month so i would not call it a new subscription
and paypal
i get confirmation emails from paypal when it does a subscription

Ah right, that seems to be what the problem is. This will only create the thread after an original subscription has been made and not when they auto renew.

One problem i have discovered with this is it posts as soon as you hit the subscription page (where you select the subscription you want), not actually having processed a paid subscription

Interested in this. Would this work on 3.6.X?

Having the same issue and it's just people looking at the subscription and not actually buying it...posts going through the roof...had to disable it for now as my heart can't take it...though I sold over 200 subscriptions!

yes i installed this and was setting it up and testing it myself. next thing you know i have three threads created all saying i donated to the site. my staff got a chuckle out of that :D
is there any way to have the thread created only after the paypal process has been completed? its a great hack but the threads will pile up as people browse that paid subscription page

:( I was really pleased with this hack until I discovered the glitch with it announcing anyone who has viewed the subscriptions page as a new member, whether they complete the subscription process or not (as noted by a few ppl before me on this thread).
Any chance of getting this sorted so I can reactivate the mod?

i checked the hook and it seems to be the correct one, i think there will have to be a check for notification back from paypal before the thread is created.
Powerful Rogue, could you also add a little update for it to show the usertitle so we know which subscription they have taken out?, it would be great if it could include promotions too :)

Neo Obs, if you have a fix for this mod i would love to hear it, this mod hasn't been supported nor the problem fixed, and if you could integrate it with the other mod powerful rogue has like this one that would be fantastic :)

Try changing the Plugin hook location to paidsub_build
Also are you talking about this https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=214702

Neo, thanks for the suggestion i will try that, as for the link, yes, thats the one, be cause it would be much better if we could have random messages posted on each subscription or usergroup change.

Is Neo's suggestion the fix to the issue where the threads start upon viewing of the subscriptions page?
If so, how do you go about fixing that? For now, I'm just going to have those threads sent to the moderator forum and we'll move them to the active forum when confirmed.
Anyone have a fix for the issue that they can share?
