Avatars not getting uploaded

Whenever i try to upload avatars from profile, i get this error "File failed to upload"

Also, i am having problems uploading various product xml files from admin cp. Is this some CHMOD problem? Or some issue with Vb?

Check your error_logs. If you don't know where they are, you may have to ask your host.
