One word. Condense!

This (http://stashbox.org/489623/10931614056-Greek-Chater-Mozilla-Firefox.png) is what I see on first click. Terrifying first impression. "Hey, 95% of my browser window has been over run with useless information, multiple menus/navigation points, a very dated scrolling marquee, and several animated images / ads."

My reaction? NEXT!

My advice? I said it above. Condense! Move the login / member box into your header. Eliminate that boring white space. Drop the scrolling marquee. If you have an announcement, announce it. Don't display it in an ancient script that makes you read like you're in first grade again (slow). Combine your navigation. Find better placements for your ads / banners. Move your statistics to the bottom. No one really cares to read those every time they visit your page. A footer is a much better place to put stuff that is not that important.

That's just the "header".. Let me know when that's done and we can move onto the actual content of your site.

Tyler is on the ride, watch out... ;)

i'm with Tyler 100% on this, but basically, as i know a lot of mediteraneans do, a lot of wrapper, not enough content, it would be good to break that reputation... put the content is the show...
