Dear all,
Have a nice day

I am running the forum on vbulletin version 3.7.2; The management team has two type - Mods + Admins ; I would like to set default that all soft deleted Posts by Mods/Members will be automatically moved to Recycle Bin forum. And then Admins will treat finally. How can I do?

I am looking forward to your reply.
Thanks so much.

Sorry, I've never heard of anything like that. It doesn't sound real easy to implement.

Because I found this function has existed and been running in the SMF forum (SMF 1.1.8). I thought that vbulletin may have similar function. It's very useful for management team in treating all soft-deleted posts/threads in forum.

Well, like Videx said, doesn't sound like something has been made to do that.

But VBulletin has the ability to move threads, and soft-delete them. Perhaps a button to combine the two? I'm not a coder so I can't say if it's possible, or reasonable, but perhaps make a thread in the unpaid request board and see what people say?

I dunno. Sounds like twice the work. Don't you trust your mods? And, if a member deletes their own post, are you supposed to overrule them and put the post back??? Makes no sense.

Our mods understand when deleting a post is a major event, and they will always post to our admin forum with the reasons why. No fancy code solution needed. And it keeps us all talking about how we enforce rules on the board.

i'm sure there was a mod that only allowed mods to soft delete threads and posts, try doing a search for "soft delete" in "all mods" "titles only" and see what comes up :)

My forum has some problems recently. There is one moderator suddenly deleted all his posts/threads, but he said that he didn't do it in genuineness. And there are also some members suddenly delete own threads/posts whenever they like :(, even though they just initiate the topic, and having lot of people develop it :(

(My opinion, I think once the posts are on the forum, they are the material of forum, so management team has responsibility in keeping up.)

Some more explanation.

Then modify the length of time that a post can be edited/deleted. I feel 2 hours is sufficient. After that, if there's a big boo-boo that needs to be edited, an Admin can be contacted.

If a member of the staff does a whole scale deletion of posts, it's time to fire that individual as a member of the staff and rethink your appointment process.

Check your logs first. I had a mod hard delete a post a few weeks back and she swore she didn't. It was only one post so I never even got around to checking on it.

I can't imagine it would be easy for anyone to delete ALL their posts. I mean, there's no button anywhere "delete all posts for user x".

Thread starters shouldn't be allowed to delete those posts anyway, as explained in the Help files. There's a setting somewhere.

theres the one suggested in similar threads:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=43695

but thats for vB2, not sure if that would work

Even if it did, according to it's features list it only recycles the *first* post, not any following posts.

For normal users (registered users) that is very difficult. But for Moderators/Admins, vbulletin has supported the moderation tool, access to search (all post by any users/following keywords...) --> check all --> delete all. I don't remember exactly the name of module since it has been installed on my forum for a long time ago.

I am thinking the other way to resolve my problem basing on your comments.

I have just set default that all moderators just have the soft delete permission (Of course registered users just can soft delete own posts, not own threads). And then, Admin team will use "Thread manager" in admin control panel, to move all thread state "deleted" to Recycle Bin. Is that sound perfect?

Some more discussion. Once again, thanks so much.

Admin team will use "Thread manager" in admin control panel, to move all thread state "deleted" to Recycle Bin.I don't even see a 'thread manager' in my AdminCP. But what's the point of moving them? Deleted posts can't be seen anyway, so why not just leave them where they are?
