Alternative to DownloadsII

Are there alternatives to DownloadsII?

I need to locate an addon or plugin that doesn't keep a MySQL connection open the entire time.

Uh, well. I don't think it does. If so, something might be wrong with a plugin or a php file somewhere... But if you really want a different one have you tried this one?

If I can figure out a way to keep DownloadsII and stop it from staying connected.. that would be AMAZING. lol. If there really is an issue, any steps you can recommend me to help resolve the issue?
