The phrase $vbphrase[private_messages_nav] gives me:
<a href="private.php{3}">My Inbox</a>: {1}, {2}.
I want to remove the how this phrase links to the Inbox, sent items etc within the drop down. Any ideas?
Thank you

Did you try just removing the link part?
My Inbox: {1}, {2}.

Ive tried that but no luck. I dont want the JS drop down to be able to be used and cant find how to remove it when you have no notifications.

This is what I want. Basically I have the notifications within the header but when I have no notifications and click the drop down it will shoot over to the right breaking the template and I wanted to remove how the drop down works when you have no notifications. The drop down content is things like Inbox, sent messages etc :)
Thanks

You shouldn't even have a dropdown for Notifications if you have no notifications. The Notifications link only shows up if you have a notification.
