Well, I am biting the bullet. I am finally upgrading my forum from 3.6.X to the latest release of 3.8. Now, I am wondering something. What is the best way to go about it? Simply overwrite the 3.6 files in the directory? I could do that, but wouldn't that leave a bunch of tables and things like that in my database that are not needed. Is there a better way other than starting fresh? If not, that is fine..just post your suggestions.
Thanks,
Curt

My suggestion - try it out on a test site first.

OK, not a problem. However, it will be fairly hard to fully test on a test site considering I don't have my database on a test site..just a fresh database..or will that matter? Is still the process the same? Just overwrite the files?

Can't you ask your host to upload a copy of your database into the new database? How are you making backups of your site? You should have them upload one of your backups into the new test database. Then upload the new files (overwrite) to the test site and run the upgrade script on the test database.
