It seems as if the bulk of my members use the "New Posts" link to see what's going on in the community - as opposed to visiting the specific forums they participate in most.

The problem is - the site I'm referring to has two groups of people - one that likes a specific type of vehicle - and another... And they don't get along..

I'd like to give them the option to click a "New Posts For Vehicle A" and "New Topics For Vehicle B" - of course, A would be one forum and B would be another.

Is this possible through a modification that already exists? And if not, can anyone point me to a person who could make it happen?

Do a search for something called something like "Forum Filter". It will allow the users to 'remove' certain forums from their display and their New Posts search.

Along with Lynne's suggestion, you can do this for new posts for certain sections only:
