I would like to setup a forum for an educational institution I work at, but there is one issue. I need to be able to restrict registration to those with an email using the .edu domain, and this is not possible in vB that I can tell. I have searched and found no mod to allow this. It would be great if there were a mod which "reversed" the email banning option in the ACP, so to speak. In other words, to make that field so that only domains listed there can register. This would be much easier if it were possible, rather than banning all TLD's except for the .edu domain.

If this were possible, many other institutions would follow suite, for several would like to have other forum software for use, other than what they have now. Is there such a mod out there that I have not found? If not, it would be very popular if it were made.

Yes there is a way to do it. You just need to Go to your AdminCP.

AdminCP -> vBulletin Options -> User Banning Options -> Banned Email Addresses

Fill in with the following:

.com .net .org .gov .ru .info .biz .cat .coop .asia .aero .int .jobs .mil .mobi .museum .name .pro .tel .travel .ac .ad .ae .af .ag .ai .al .am .an .ao .aq .ar .as .at .au .aw .ax .az .ba .bb .bd .be .bf .bg .bh .bi .bj .bm .bn .bo .br .bs .bt .bv .bw .by .bz .ca .cc .cd .cf .cg .ch .ci .ck .cl .cm .cn .co .cr .cu .cv .cx .cy .cz .de .dj .dk .dm .do .dz .ec .ee .eg .er .es .et .eu .fi .fj .fk .fm .fo .fr .ga .gb .gd .ge .gf .gg .gh .gi .gl .gm .gn .gp .gq .gr .gs .gt .gu .gw .gy .hk .hm .hn .hr .ht .hu .id .id .ie .il .im .in .io .iq .ir .is .it .je .jm .jo .jp .ke .kg .kh .ki .km .kn .kp .kr .kw .ky .kz . la .lb .lc .li .lk .lr .ls .lt .lu .lv .ly .ma .mc .md .me .mg .mh .mk .ml .mm .mn .mo .mp .mq .mr .ms .mt .mu .mv .mw .mx .my .mz .na .nc .ne .nf .ng .ni .nl .no .np .nr .nu .nz .om .pa .pe .pf .pg .ph .pk .pl .pm .pn .pr .ps .pt .pw .py .qa .re .ro .rs .rw .sa .sb .sc .sd .se .sg .sh .si .sj .sk .sl .sm .sn .so .sr .st .su .sv .sy .sz .tc .td .tf .tg .th .tj .tk .tl .tm .tn .to .tp .tr .tt .tv .tw .tz .ua .ug .uk .us .uy .uz .va .vc .ve .vg .vi .vn .vu .wf .ws .ye .yt .yu .za .zm .zw

That blocks out just about every domain name except the .edu ones.

Do you have a specific list of domains that are permitted to register?

Well, I just provided the list of domains that should be in the banned list to make it so that .edu is the only accepted domain. ICANN doesn't add to the list very often, so that should suffice for awhile - and then on top of that it wouldn't be very likely that anyone would submit more than the biggies like .net .org .gov .ru .info or .biz

I'm in a similar situation, except, I want to allow only one domain ABC.edu. How would I do that?

Thanks.
