haha... egg avatar and v3 arcade brings an additional layer of fun to forums. All live topic does is enhance the users experience.

It's fun but not great. I have seen the same mod 3 to 4 years back on SMF.

v3arcade is also already for many many years available on vBulletin. It is only the new version released recently that made it into the MOTM.

I'd have been voting for v3arcade, but have gone the way of the egging, as it's given the members of my community a great new way to spend their cash and they are loving it and as has already been said, v3arcade, although much improving, isn't new, it's had my vote in the past when it won, so time for the new to get their turn.

So the votes will decide which mod win in the end?
What about the rating?
I saw that Egg Avatar has 5 stars rating while Live Topic has 4.

Say mod A has 100 people installing and 50 of them voted but gave it 4 stars rating on average, the vote will stay 50.
Mod B has 50 people installing and 25 voted but gave it 5 stars voting on average, the vote will stay 25.
Therefore, Mod A wins because solely it has more votes, despite the rating.
I don't think this is a clear win because the rating also reflects what people think about the mod they've installed.

live topic is a beta mod, unfortunately people installing it don't understand that and im pretty sure that's why it has negative ratings. I hope to fix all conflicts. When i initially released Live Topic it was pretty bare, i have added a good bit of features based to community input, and most of those ratings were from the past.

also @v3arcade... I still feel that if a mod has won a MOTM it should carry for future versions.

I will not be the slightest bit upset if Live Topic wins. It's a fantastic mod that obviously took a lot of hard work. :) The exposure from just being nominated has already been great for me.

I agree with that, and stated so in a thread (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=209588) a week or so ago.

Ratings are not a good indicator of how good a hack actually is, as I personally have several people post ratings of one, just because I will not add a feature that they want into one of my hacks and they are throwing a tantrum.

There are several people who have given newly released hacks of mine a rating of 1 and yet no one had actually downloaded or installed them (ie download count of 0), so if a hack has never been downloaded nor tested by any one, then how can a high or low rating be given??

Other hackers here have also had hacks given 1 star ratings without any installs too, so like I said ratings are not really a good indicator of how good a hack is, and if people follow the ratings, they will miss out on a lot of good hacks just because bad ratings given to them by some petty people.

BTW: Egg Avatar gets my vote, as it is a interesting idea, that would be fun for members.

Thanks for the information. I never knew some people are so mean as to give 1 star even before installing, or just because they throw a tantrum!!
I am sorry for my ignorance of this.

No matter who wins for this month, most of us humble non-coders feel very grateful.
Thank you very much to all coders, Yay!!

i dunno if its just me but i always thought that vb.org's rantings were backwards. 5,4,3,2,1 instead of 1,2,3,4,5

LOL, I have never known any rating system that goes backwards.

Another thing that I noticed about MOTM is that we are not allowed to change our vote. Now, do all the people who voted for MOTM install all the 5 nominated mods and base their choice from their experience? I doubt it. For example, I downloaded Live Topic, but have not had the time to install it yet, so I have no idea about it at all. Say, after I install it I change my mind and want to vote for Live Topic, it will be too late since I already voted for Egg Avatar :p Of course this applies with the other nominated mods as well.

It would be great maybe, if we are allowed to change our vote :)

BTW, I think I will install Live Topic tomorrow.

I have just installed it, and there is no problem at all. I really like it! It made my forum much faster and definitely it saves a lot of bandwidth! Thanks a lot!
Also, you have a very nice voice :p

PS: I am not telling though whether I changed my mind or not, because I don't want to offend any coder :p

Live Topic gets my vote mainly as its more benificial to my website - I run a sports site and it comes in handy as we have live events - like when a sporting game is on some people are at work and sit on my site and people post up to date scores and what is happening in the game and people love the live topic as it saves them from refreshing - so mainly because it is a huge part to my site at the moment it gets my vote but congrats to all for being nominated -

I also agree that v3 arcade shouldn't really be nominated just because it's a new version
