View Full Version : Tweaking a skin?

Hi all,

I've found a skin I really like and it included some PSD files. I changed one PSD file to have my name instead of the default name "Rachado". It was in a separate "PSD" folder.

However, I believe I may have to move it to the folder I FTP to my server... I'm just not sure how I go about doing that. :(

Here's my site:

http://www.fromctoshiningc.com/forums/index.php

And, of course, instead of "Rachado", I want to appear "From C to Shining C".

As I said, I managed to change that in the PSD file, but the file had ALL the elements, not just the header.

I guess I'm wondering how do I go about changing the name to mine.

I did find the title in the folder I uploaded to my server, but it's a .gif format, therefore I can't seem to edit it. :(

Also, is there any way to place a link to my "Gallery" in the nav bar?

Thanks for any help!
Ted

Hi Ted,

1st of all - nice skin choice

2nd... vBSkins.com styles are currently coded for vBulletin 3.7.2 - You may need to make several edits to the skin templates to get all of the functionality that vB 3.8.x offers and to correct any board errors.

3rd... There should be a psd file for the logo. You can edit the logo text in the psd file - then you save it as rachado_logo.gif --- Once the file is edited to your liking - upload it to your forums/images/rachado folder ;)

4th... The edit to add "Gallery" to the navigation will most likely be in either the navbar or the header template.

Hope this helps.
PM me if you need additional help :)

Jacquii.

Hi Mike,

The gallery is Photopost Pro and the URL:

http://www.fromctoshiningc.com/gallery

I thought it would show up naturally, but if you look at my gallery, there are red x's and all types of ugliness. LOL!

Those missing images is because you A. didn't upload the images to the correct folder or B. have an incorrect url setting in the photopost options.

I don't have photopost installed on my forum - so I cannot pinpoint any possible setting you might need to adjust. You might have better help with that over at the photopost forums ;)

Thanks for the advice, Jacquii. :)

With the default vBulletin skin, I have no problems... they come out just fine. It's only with this new skin.

Easier said than done! Remember you're talking to a real newbie here! :)

And Mike, it's gotta be close to 4:30 AM your time! Shouldn't you be in bed?! ;) (or just waking up at least! LOL)
